View Full Version : Environment: Ancient Temple
cychen 10-29-2003, 02:10 AM Hi:
This is an ancient temple finished and rendered in Maya.
I tried to combine some Baroque style to the Roman/Greek temple.
Please feel free to leave your comment.
I'd be glad to hear some opinions since it's my first time here.
thanks!

I like the lighting and the architecture, but the maps are stretched way too much, the detail is too low and I'm not even sure there is a bump map on em? The corners of all the stone is too sharp and everything should be dustier. the poly count apears fairly low and the modeling could use a lot more detailing.
Nice concept, just doesn't look finished yet to me. I'd like to see this developed further.

The design style is great, really impressive! I agree with Drakaran, please render these again with a larger texture and bump, then it will be a real killer. Right now, it looks a little too CG because of the stone textures.

Thank you Drakaran and MedusasHead.
yes, i guess i can increase details more on models and texture.
i put some bevels everywhere when making it, but i guess i need more details, add more imperfection on models when doing the close shots.
however, i did have bump on them.
maybe because the model is too sharp on edges?

Try increasing the influence of the bump. Like if you have an amplification setting, bump that up a bit. The beveling is probably hidden cause of the textures. Fixing those will solve about 90% of what ya need. adding some pebbles etc would help, yes. nice work!

Your dmap shadows have some artifacts as well. You should play around with the dmap res/filter/bias setting to try and get rid of that.

thank you guys,
your tips are really helpful.
I guess those are the main problems in my scene that I didn't see.
BTW, protohiro,
could you show me the place(s) that make you think the shadows should be adjust?
is it in one picture or all around?
it would be really great if i know where to start off.
again, thanks!
:)
