deacon-vai 10-29-2003, 01:45 AM Hello everybody
A new picture, with the demon character taken from the video short movie called "Critique" (I made the SFX on it).
Modeling and rendering with Maya, compositing with Photoshop.
I hope you'll enjoy it.

Err... I can see a few specular highlights, but I have no idea what else is in that picture...

not bad, the corners of the stone work is too square, you need to roughen it a bit maybe increase the strength of the bump map would help. the clouds seem a bit grainy... is that a pic and just lowrez or something?

Too dark, I can't see any details in it.... Grainess brings some mood into it but that gargoyle is just black hole in it. Yep, corners are bit too sharp. And texturing, well cant say much about it cos its so dark.

The scene is pretty dark. So it's difficult to see any detail in the scene.
Drakaran is right about the stone.
Post another render if you want more crits & comments.
Bon boulot quand même!
Tchô!:)

I think that model rocks! I don't particularly like the textures, etc.... but thats one really cool lookin' gargoyle model.

Man, you sure got a nice model there! But the render you gave us hardly shows off any off your modeling skills. And it's a shame man, cause you put alot of detail on this gargoyle. I know everybody says less is more but in case I'd love to see this guy closer up with textures and everything. Right now all the detail kinda blends into a grey-green color. I know I'm suggesting you change the shot radically from the oringinal but it might really help to bring out the detail and effort you put into this beautiful model. Nice work man!

I totally agree with Jonny, the render doesn't do justice to that amazing model you've created...

maybe if the moon was shining more directly down and more strongly that would help give a reason for increasing the light in the scene? it's nice to have some darkness and stuff to set the mood, but at first, I thought this was to hide a low poly model. Since that isn't the case, it's better if you found a way to light it a bit more

the modeling looks great but the image don't show anything. You should use an other camera to present your caracter

can we have a larger render? The model looks great, but... well I just agree with the other posters :) sorry. Maybe try moving the camera closer?
it looks great though

First off, that model rocks. See ->:buttrock:
Second off, it's one of the most original gargs I've seen. I especailly love the gill/membrane/rib/washboard things on the sides of his back.
The first post looks great on my monitor, and the lightened up one looks like a flyer that has been in the sun for a week. But with everyone's monitors set differetly, you can't dop much about that.
Anyhow, not to be a total fan boy, the model is my favorite on the site.
Crit(s): I'd dumb down the reflections on the building, and add a bit more color variation to the maps. And maybe, add a bit of scrollwork right underneath the ledge.
That model rocks. See (again) ->:buttrock:
