View Full Version : Vehicle: Bell X-1
TheArrow 10-29-2003, 01:03 AM Sorry If this model is not up to par with all of your models, this is my first work to post here at CGtalk, and I hope I might make a good impression. Given my age and time modeling, I think this model is pretty good.
This is a Bell X-1 model, low polies, intended for use in the game "battlefield 1942." I'm open to all C&C.

I think it is an excellent model, low resolution obviously, but good modelling technique is present. The textures are good, and it would look great in a game. I myself would easily recognize what it's supposed to be, so that's pretty good compared to what I've seen elsewhere.
Not sure what program you used, but if there's a meshsmooth command, the model would greatly benefit from it. Also, you might want to consider modelling the cockpit/canopy in 3D rather than using a texture.
BTW, I've been doing 3D stuff since I was 13 (Using trueSpace 1 for cryin' out loud!), and I only recently reached a decent level of modelling (I'm 20). So I think this is a good model for any age.

What if he's 6, and modelling?
Can you imagine trying to understand half the modelling terms when you're 6?

If he's 6 and modelling this well I bow down before him!

TheArrow it isn't important how old are you but how log are you doing modeling/texturing. I'm wery young, and I'm doing 3D only half of a year, but I'm trying hard, so I'll sometime know how to made scenes that I saw done by other artists.
Your model is great, but you should try to model cabine and aply meshsmooth modifier like gardocki sayed. It would look great!

well, i guess i've only been modeling for less than a year......but im trying......the model is meant for a game remember, and If I meshsmooth it the model will have way too many polies to be acceptible without lag......

Whoops... I missed the part about the game. Ignore my suggestion about meshsmooth. As I said though, excellent low-res model

You can still keep the low poly model, I'd like just to see it with meshsmooth modifier.
