Ok I am in.
Monsters Inc came out when I was in high school at a time when I was starting to explore 3D software. I remember seeing the footage of Pixar studios, fun, scooters and chimps; Animation was the life for me.
So ten years on lets see if I can recreate something that inspired me to get in Animation, my favourite Pixar character Sulley.

I have laid out the proportions of Sulley using spheres and cylinders, matching it against an image of Sulley.
Often with character reference I am given a three quarters posed designs, it is very rare for a character design to come to me in front and side view character sheets, so I find it important to be able to block out a character from a posed design image, this being the ideal situation because the image I am basing my proportions off is already 3D. Now I have the proportions laid out I can continue my modeling in the conventional T-pose.

Cool technique, I'll give it a try for the other characters I'll model during this HMC.

A quick test to convince myself I will be able to put fur on this character.

If it's blocked out in that way, how are you going to model it in a t pose? :)

Once I finished with the Blocking I rotated the parts back into a T-pose position. I am able to continue to work in the posed form because as I go I will add joints with basic envelope skinning, this means I can work on a symmetrical model why matching it to posed reference.
