Yes, I got three sort of pen for the inking, one to put little details ( a PILOT g-tec-c4), another to outline the character ( a felt-tip pen "Pentel Sign") and a third to connect the two sort of lines... :thumbsup:

if you also do digital art i suggest you to buy a wacom tablett (a5/a6 is absolutely enough) - intuos or graphire (the last one is way more affordable but comes with lower resolution, though very usefull). these tablets come with 'painter classic' - a superb painting tool unfortunately without layers.

Heheh.. I got alot of time on my hands lately.. getting laid off my job . Started a new job last night. my next shift starts next week BaH.. fun fun fun. Lots of FREE time. Now if only i could find some freelance work ( colouring or painting or drawing) instead of working for 8$ an hour and getting shitty hours. =p

Wow, I am very impressed. It looks like you have worked long and hard on developing your style. Great life in all the characters, the details in the upper body were awesome. Yeah you need to darken those colors on him (Echo), use refrence pictures, I can't stress that enough. If its a Manga style, you can keep the shadows small, but work on the color first.

Whew, flew through this in 1.5 hours. The hardest thing as simple as it might seem, was the lighting, you have 3 light sources, its was definatley a challenge to get them all to play along togther, both in intensity and color harmony, the background is purple (and the shadows) for a reason. If you take your typical color wheel and pick the most apparent (noticable) color (the orange) you play a "Triadic" off of that, which is Purple,blue and green. The direct split for the Orange fire is Blue Green hence the necklace glow color.

Don't ever let anyone tell you color theory isn't worth the time. Its especially useful for situations like this with different color light sources.

Anyway...Hope you like it!<p>

very nice effec on the medallion, and the lighting is really good, bu shane I think you missed a spot on his calve on the right leg with the blue flame (water??) again though awesome job, I'd take a stab as I haven't done this with other peoples line work before, but alas no time for this right now.

We'll see in november, I was also downloading your images of your pilot for modeling, I may take a stab with the new C4D modeling tools in november, I'll get back to you on that, as I will be doing some tutorials, and it might be better to try and get some original sketches of a new character or something. Definitely have to start getting in kahoootz with you 2D guys once this darn film is done, right now all I draw is graphic gorillas.



I kind of like the blue flame idea, really cool look and a nice contrast of the rough brush strokes to the super clean effect on the medallion. Great work all round I'd say.


And hey anyone interested in helping design a bunch of young kid characters for a flash film? I have the concept now, but it will require quite a few little boy and little girl designs (age not decided yet, super young might be cute but maybe preteen would be better, I'll start a thread on this closer to production time.)
