View Full Version : Wanted: 3D Modeller & Animator
TheAnim8or 06-11-2011, 06:39 AM I am looking for a 3D Modeller who will model anything no matter what orientation it falls under. He/She must also know how to animate and rig the models.
I would like a collaboration, but if they need money, I guess i can cope with it.
Thanks,
TheAnim8or
Edit: I don't have a project in particular. I also don't have skype.

duuuude...you need more details.
We stand a better chance seeing replies when there is clear direction, something to look at and you show what you're briniging to the mix.
Thumbsup on being willing to pay for services like you are asking for, but it's a pretty broad request and almost sounds lke it would be like a semi-fulltime studio position. For this you woud have to be ready to pay a fairly large wage.
People are more likley to do a one off model for a modest fee if they can see details - descriptions, drawings etc and what it will pay.
If you are serious about doing this, give me a shout and I'll try to lend a hand to get you set up for a better response.

Ok, to start, could you try to add some of the things I mentioned in previous post?
Take out the info on what you don't have and add what you do have.
Try to decide on a genre you would like to do...fantasy, scifi, cartoon etc.
Find and post some images to show what style you like- you can use web image searches or similar.
Once you have those things also decide what might be a good model that will be usable in your project. Advertise for a concept artist and offer a fee. Check their work before you pay anything and don't pay all in advance in case they can't deliver.
Be fair though and make sure you give as much reference material and detailed description as possible to make it work out. Make sure you complement their efforts and don't criticize harshly. be constructive and clear.
For example on our creature design for our Lost Survivor film we could have said to the artists draw a concept for an iceworm----but what size is it....a few inches like a real worm or 20' long? what color is it...etc.
You have to give lots of detail and even then the artists may not get it right away.
Here's the thread we had for this creature model> LINK (http://collabunlimited.net/network/groups/forum/topic/Ice-Worm-2010-09-27.htm#topic/Ice-Worm-2010-09-27.htm) You can see some details we gave and the concept art we had to start. Then 2 of us did a rough model. Then Fabrizio came on the job.
He received more details and started work. He did 5+ revisions which we ended up scrapping. Below is a pic with a few he did>

Eventually we had to create a 3/4 concept version with more detail for him to use a guide. After that we got closer to final and you can see where the model is now in the last post on thread.
It's worth noting, the artists who did the sculpting in ZBrush is a film industry professional and we still went through many revisions before he got to where we wanted it to be. Granted, this could be simply a difference in vision, taste, etc. But the point is you need clear details and then it's still a lot of work - giving art direction, feedback on the artists updates, creating more concept art if required...
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Here's another quick example:
For this one we needed a model of a manipulator arm- Below is an image we found on the web>

The job was posted in a few forums with the fee offer of $100. I made it clear that it was worth more than the fee, but that was what we could pay for this model.
One week later it was done>

Hope that helps a bit to start you off. :buttrock:

Ok,
I'll try to describe what I want as clearly as I can.
I don't have much experience in modelling. You might say I am a beginner.
For genre's, I don't care what genre it is, As long as it is being modelled, i'm happy.
Here are some images of what I like:

In fact, I love a whole variety of different stuff.
And like I said, A collaboration would be good, but if 3D Modellers need money, I can deal with it.
Cheers,

That's not really bringing much to the table except some random things to model...you might get a bite, but I' say people would rather just do their own choice if it has no greater purpose than to get made for you to see it happen.
If that's your path, then probably best if you pick one and make a fee offer to let them know how much you will pay for their work. Or maybe wait till you get something more solid together.

I'm sorry, softdistortion.
The main reason I want a 3D Modeller is because I have an open source game (which I thought up) coming out in the near future.
Also, I am open to other's ideas. Sorry for not making myself clear

No need to apologize. If nothing else it maybe gives you some thoughts on how to explain your goals. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

softdistorion,
are you offering me your services? Because when you said "looking forward to seeing what you come up with", it sounded like it.
If not, that's ok. Just checking.
