Perhaps in another thousand years, dimensional bus stations can take over for crude rockets and naughty saucers.
Note to self: Orange and purple are nifty colors only when used for make-believe.

I drew something else, too. Its supposed to be liquid fermenting into a nice cozy sea port.
Whooptie doo.
Needs more purple and orange.

If one took a portal from the first lousy image while thinking about the bitter aftertaste dealt by the second lousy image, one would find themselves standing in this, the third lousy image.
Lordy lordy. Perhaps I need to retire from this pot o gold competition.
No. There must be at least one rotten Cori. That'll be me. Hooray!
Kory:
Thanks for the encouragement. I think my name, spelled with a 'C' means "Angry Fighter." As if fighters were ever joyful.
I don't know what it means if the 'C' goes up to 'K.' Hopefully nothing repulsive.
Though, it could very well mean, "Gruesome Sunset," which should please you.
Or not.
It certainly wouldn't me.
If ur modeling skills match ut wit, then were all pretty much screwed. :D
I like the lastest one. Its got a nice Dr Zues on absynth feel to it...
Needs purples and orange tho.

Onlooker: Look out, Farmer Frack, a tornado!
Famer Frack: Wha! That's no tornada. That there's just some cheap, lookn' alien civilization, built by some sort of moron.
Onlooker: Hey! No need to get nasty about it.
Farmer Frak: Shut up. And git out of my tractor.
Onlooker: You're mean!
Pyke:
My modeling and painting skills are equally savage.
Nobody screw nuthin'. Or if you do, at least do it in a different forum, when no one else is awake.
Thanks for not admiting publically these sketches make your dogs and domesticated water foul puke.

After getting caught between a supernova and a black hole, Jerry, the Cosmic Ice Cream Man, depolarizes and becomes a mere ice cream cone shaped meteorite.
I'm truly getting frustated. After rereading the contest rules several times, it seems we need to make something subtly massive that whispers while we yell.
Maybe I'll just model some tentacles juggling eggs and fish sticks.
Thanks for looking.

Juror: You're not taking this contest very seriously.
Contestant: Am too! I'm just rotten, and stinky.
Juror: Knock it off. And read the rules. No prefabricated shite! That includes cubical skins from ZBrush.
Contestant: Awww!
Juror: SILENCE! No more concept Sketches from you. You're wasting bandwidth. Now get modeling. No Cheating. Use Houdini or XSI.
Contestant: Those cost a billion dollars!
Juror: Tough! You want to win, you got to spin!
Contestant: What the hell does that mean?
Juror: Silence! I'm tempted to break your mouse finger and shove that Wacom Tablet up your arse. Now get to work!
Contestant: Awww. Your mean.
Juror: Puny dullard. Just follow the rules. And don't test me: Turds like you are easy to flush. Even without a plunger.
Contestant: Meanie!
This is my favorite entry!
LMAO!

Ravioli_rancher...dude you are one funny mofo! LOL :D
I love this thread. I can't wait for more just to see what you have to say about it. Hahaha. :)
On a more serious note:
I like your ideas about waves freezing into buildings...that could make for an interesting concept.
Your 3D concepts are really awesome. I like all of them. The crystal one looks pretty cool, and I like the "stairway to nothing" sort of feel it has. Ans how you come up with such cool shapes in your "cube-ish" renders is beyond me. All the shapes seem so random and spur-of-the-moment, yet they all fit in so well together in your scenes.
Bravo on some truly wild pieces, and thanks for the great laughs.
Keep up the good work!

Despite common sense, I post again.
I am stranded on an alien planet that seems to be little more than an infected sinus.
I have no tissues, so must wipe off the soil with my sleeve.
Again, I doubt the judges meant cold and flu like symptoms when they suggested bio fluids in the official contest rules.
Unfortunately, they didn't forbid it, so immature creeps like me can continue to exploit its banality.
ZrO-1,
Funny?!
You're mean!
I'm trying really really really hard.
Now I feel like an intestinal parasite. And its nice. Wheee! Look at the swirling bile!
Seriously, though, thank you for being polite. Eventhough grunge died out of fashion at the turn of the century, some of us still live and think like scum.
Hooray for the filthy!
And the polite.

Official: What the hell is that?
Contestant: My final concept.
Official: But its your worst one!
Contestant: Is not! It took my computer fifteen minutes to render! That three minutes longer than all the others combined!
Official: I don't think you understand this contest. Perhaps you should retire.
Contestant: Never! I'm learning all kinds of stuff. Like RGB stands for Red Green Blue. I never would have known that if I wasn't partcipating.
Official: That's enough! I'm making this contest more exclusive. Morons like you are hereby ineligible.
Contestant: You can't do that!
Official: Wrong! I can do anything! I'm an official!
Contestant: In that case, go away. You're MEAN!

Participant: Hi. I'm running a Pentium III 1GHz with 1.5 Big Gigabytes of PC133 Generic Memory on an OEM installation of Windows 2000.
This mesh is rendered in Pixologic's ZBrush, version 1.55b.
CGTalk Frequenter: Phishh. You're obviously an amateur. I mean, where're your edge loops at? And look at all those non planar quads! Ewww. And I won't even try to count all your five and six sided poles bordered by tris. You know what you need? You need n-gon support.
Participant: Huh? Are you developing a new language for your alien world?
CgTalk Frequenter: No, moron. Nevermind. That's a dumb mesh.
Participant: Hey! Did you see my concept art?
CGTalk Frequenter: Go to Haities.
Participant: Hey! I hope your mesh is dumb too!
CGTalk Frequenter: What did you say to me, you little turd?
Participant: Nothing. Thanks for looking.

Steve, the antler-shaped alien, was told, 'Never look at the sunset, or you'll turn to plastic.'
Unfortunately, his ears were vaporized as larvae when a lousy humanoid stood on top of his head, and screamed, "Is Anybody Out There!!!???"
So, eventually, Steve became plastic.
Poor Steve.
And everyone else who has to bear this dazzling alien imagery.
Note the total lack of shadow beneath the figure.
Ooo. How surreal.
And Nice cliffs. Why they must be six inches above see level. Aighhh! Vertigo!
Thanks for looking at my extraordinay progess.
Hopefully, alienware will mail me a mousepad.
Or a plea to stop.
I know! I start emailing my progress to them directly! Surely that'll yeild results.
I want to hear them say, "Mercy, Stinky, Mercy!"
Good lord...u actually speak more crap than me...and my gf said that wasnt possible!!!
OK-On2 the technical tid bits...
I think that the last few sketches are really lookingnice. I think that if you combined "Planet Picker" with "Cupcake Canal" you would definately have something nice 2 work with!
Carry on good sir!

Once all Earth's potatos had been eliminated, the Potato Bugs had nowhere else in the universe to turn, save a small moon at the edge of the Hashbrown Constellation. Here, they grow ponderously humongous, and float over the horizon like blimps.
Little Bastards.
Pyke,
Alright. I suppose it is time to get off the crapper and see if I can do more than aggravate.
By the way, your bacterial inspired civilization is definitely something to admire.
I'm just a punk.
Is gf girl friend or grand father? Gaseous Flounder? Gelantinous Fizz? Glandular Fanny?
Whoa. Nevermind. I don't need to know.
Anyway, I get the point. Time to work.
Thanks for the input.

Everyone thinks they have a chance.
Everyone will be pissed at the winner, and think their entry is better.
Everyone, except me.
I'd be pissed at the winner only if I win, because, clearly, I'm fingerpainting, and this contest is about rich people kicking the crap out of hopeful scum.
But, its fun to pretend I'm competing.
In this image, the year is 1842. A group of scientists have sucessfully been sucked into a swirling vortex, which materialized when their leader, unable to remember Newton's Third Law, threw a tantrum and crushed a beaker of Vaporized Absynthe against his head.
The fumes opened the vortex, and the group began jumping from pitted sphere to pitted sphere, looking for an exit.
The explaination is as stupid as the image.
Hooray!
Boogey,
With 1200 participants and 900 entries, many posts will look alike. I'm glad you think mine are more fun than most.
Many people are already noticing a lot of vines. A lot of Veins. And a lot of floating rocks.
The more we look at the entries, the more likely these awful things will appear in our own attempts.
As has happened here with my latest one.
Damnn you all to hell!
Thanks for looking.

Cool! How did you make the repeating shapes in the image of Jerry, the Cosmic Ice Cream Man, and the other one like it? Is that a 2D painting with a funky brush, or is it really 3D? If it's 3D how did you do it (what program is used to make them)?
Very good start!:bounce:

So, I've decided not to do a landscape.
Rather, since no consesus can be reached on how to determine if something is alive, I'll make big, fat alien embryos in stasis covered in 1980's procedural textures.
Instead of light being emitted from the orafice, I plan on buckets of bile, being projected onto a nosey space nerd.
Very classy.
Thanks for keeping your scornful disregard private.
Pearson,
Those little buggers are Cubical Skins rung out in ZBrush 1.55b. Its nothing more that a horrible, blobular mesh twisted, inverted, and torn to shreds, then rejuvinated by clicking on a button that turns everything into a nice stack of cubes.
Fun to click. Great for idea generation and lazy worms who dislike modeling. Like me.
Sometimes, I let my in-door buzzard peck the keyboard and viola, strangers are impressed.
Cheers.

So, I've decided my candy larvae looks like a crawdad.
Since crustaceans are usually associated with ponds and creeks and ponds and creeks are usually associated with pools, and pools are usually associated with peeing in the deep end, I'm going to do something else.
Instead of that trash, (and because at least two strangers seemed interested in the cubic skinning layouts), I submit this, the truly final concept sketch.
It may not be organic, or slimey, but I like the clouds, and it almost looks like I'm trying.
Plus, it doesn't remind me of peeing in a pool of tart crustaceans.
Blasterboy,
I hear that all the time.
Thanks. No thanks. Same to ya, buddy.

Inspired by a plumbing adventure featuring me, the underbelly of my home and my sewage.
Hold on . . .
Since I doubt anyone wants to advertise with shit derived imagery, officially, I'll say this was inspired by a beautiful woman. Certainly that works for a nerd targeted product (and everything else, for that matter).
Yea, inspired by a beautiful, turd shaped woman.
This is so depressing.
Hooray.
Thanks for all your support.
And pickles to get me through another lousy night. Hip Hip Hooray for pickles!

I've decided time is better spent going out with hot chicks, so here is my final entry for this depressing contest.
It's a trio of alien lunchboxes, about to be beamed aboard the motherschool bus, and later eaten by alien bullies.
Best of luck to those few professionals who take their entries seriously.
Ahhh. What a relief.
JamesMK
11-30-2003, 09:28 AM
Jokes aside, some of your concepts actually look useable.
I had a lunchbox with leprosy once. It was not very useful since parts of it fell off from time to time, taking parts of my lunch with it. Not that it mattered, because it was pretty hard to avoid throwing up while watching that thing slowly decomposing on the table in front of me anyway.
I think you should do something using that yellow-red shrimp a few posts back. It looks quite neato somehow. I picture a shrimp-based scene made in a traditional chinese painting style. It could work and you know it.

Due to severe social dysfunction (I'm nasty), I'm forcecd back into this contest. Deepest apologies.
See? More stupid cubes. Why can't I focus anyway?
Dunno. But, if I were wandering on an alien planet or nether region, I bet I'd get nervous diarrhea, thereby leaving an unsightly trail on my way across the galaxy, appalled nobody wants to talk.
James MK,
Great idea. Unfortunately I'm too screwed up to work on something as rigorous and demanding as a Japanese style painting.
But, maybe I can find a way to incorporate shrimp into a cube. Then I'd win for sure.
If this makes anyone sick, please let me know. I'll post more.
Hooray! Tum dum dum dum dah!
Perhaps, one day soon, I'll get my head out of my ass and make a legitimate effort.
Unless, of course, I keep looking at all the other entries, get discouraged and just bash my monitor with my keyboard.
Onward!

I have seen the shrimp cube. And I'll tell you where to go for reference material: the freezer section of your local asian grocery. There you will find large solid blocks of frozen shrimp, snails, squid, eels, blowfish, barnacles, seahorses, phytoplankton and various other sea-dwelling ne'er-do-wells.
Hey maybe you could have some of those shrimp fetuses square dancing with the turd ladies across those cube landscapes! And where are the egg juggling tentacles, DAMMIT?!
(Your pictures are cool, but why don't you take up writing? You're one funny bastard. You'd make the greatest movie reviewer ever).

Hi Cori!
Let's have sum kind a weird coming out. Yes, I admit, I followed your silly funny track since weeks, and I found a guy wich talks more shit than I do (wich my Girlfriend as well would say it's impossible, but who gives a...) but never the less, let's try to focus on a serious thing: most of your concepts contain usable parts, maybe, you print them all out, put them on the wall and make a selection, (choose any way to do that, maybe trow with tntadvanced arrows on them, and if the smoke disapears, try to put it back together as a puzzle ) and whatever you like, bring into a final direction, cuz it's 'bout time to find a target to work on. And if your final composition is called "attack of the cheesoverbaked killerslugs of endoria plasmacorrupting the backyard of the morialogical swampfreezer shrimpbricks", it's still gonna be kewl, but start to kick but seriously... Cheerz
