View Full Version : Chrome Rim Shader for MR
tame2000 10-28-2003, 12:15 AM Hey, I was wondering if anyone new of a good setup, or tutorial, for making Metal, rendering in Mental Ray. Would idealy like it to be Chrome, but any example of a realistic metal is helpful. Cheers,
t.

Is this the look your want ????
Its just using using the standard maya renderer and phixo's silver shader that can be found on highend3d, im sure if this was rendered in MR it would give the same result.
Excuse the darkness of the render.

Have you tried a dgs shader?
Attach a dgs_material shader to the 'material shader' slot in the shader node of the object. Also attach a dgs_photonb shaders to the photon shader slot. dont forget to attach all the lights info to the to the dgs through message.
Hope this is clear.
Forgive me it friday afternoon.
