Hi Guys,

I started with HOT .
www.vimeo.com/24846246 (http://www.vimeo.com/24846246)

Simulation is ok.

Now i want to visualize the velocity direction (similar to visualizing normal).
IN custom option i could not find anything.
I added a trail node after vopsop and changed result type to compute velocity.
Still i couldnt view velocity and caching the ocean with rop is not working.

Hi

By custom you mean under the display settings ? You create your own attributes. Velocity is vector , create a new one > name it velocity add your attribute which is of course v and the class is point.

I added a trail node after vopsop and changed result type to compute velocity.

well if you did that MMB on a node after the trail sop and you should see the point attribute v for velocity.

Still i couldnt view velocity and caching the ocean with rop is not working.

If you set up the display of your velocity vector correctly you can see it in the viewport.

Writing geometry to disk works correctly using the geometry ROP. If you are having problems you need to be a lot more precise in your question.
This often means including a scene file.

hi mrbob,

Thank you for the reply.

Sorry for not specific.

I mmb the trail node and it got a point attributes v[3].

How can i set up the display for the velocity vector to see it in viewport.

1. open up display settings (d key over the view port).

2. on the first tab (guides & markers) click the arrow next to "custom"

3. select create attribute vector

4. This creates "vector 1" Right click this and go to "edit"

5. change the name and label to Velocity (or whatever you would like to call this attribute)

6. change the Attribute from "N" to "v"
