i would recommend to check the Craigslist.org as an option,
for vocation rentals and or shares/rentals.

I booked a room at the HI Vancouver Downtown Hostel, but you can also choose from HI Vancouver Central Hostel, The Samesun Backpacker Lodge, etc.

I'm looking for someone to share a room with me. I'm staying at the Sheraton Wall Center (http://www.sheratonvancouver.com/) It's an official SIGGRAPH hotel so you get a shuttle wristband, though it's also walkable (about 25 min.) if you're so inclined. I'm arriving Sat. 6 around 11:30 pm and checking out till Aug 12. I think I can edit the reservation to include your name.

I'm male, old enough to have seen the original Star Wars :-P. PM if interested.
