hi, here's a painting i did recently. It is based on the idea that mermaids do live in the present day and they are being threatened by the oil leakage. This image depicts the fish dying first and falling through the water and how a mermaid is perplexed and scared to see the black descend.

Hope you like it. critiques appreciated very much :) I want to grow as an artist

Hey, a couple of quick notes:

Shouldn't it be "The Black Descent"? Descend is kind of awkward.

The biggest suggestion I can make, is to show the mermaid's front, so you can see her face. Her facial expression is the biggest clue as to what's going on (Look of horror). At the very least, turn her so you can see her face in profile.
