View Full Version : Make vertices planar?

In Max, I could select vertices and make them perfectly aligned with make planar tool. In Maya, I've only found that I can turn the option on to create planar polygons in the tool option.

Where is the make planar equivalent in Maya?

It's right here: www.highend3d.com

Go to the scripts section and search for planar.

OMG, you are one incredibly knowledgable Maya dude. Are there any questions you CAN'T answer? I see you answering questions from newbies AND experienced artist alike, and with such ease. It's feckin' amazing.

Heh. Thanks.

I'm a Maya geek of some years and in between jobs at the moment. So I have LOTS of time on my hands to answer Q's and I'm always glad to help.

I learned a long time ago (at least it seems that way) that you never help yourself so much as when you are helping others. Some of these questions have helped me to uncover a few things I suspected but didn't know for certain. Plus it got me motivated to write that really nifty defaultMaterial script. :)

Speaking of scripts... I recently needed some swarming gnats and didn't like the currently available offerings. So, I wrote my my own. Check out ultraSwarm at my little corner of the web: http://homepage.mac.com/julianlove/FileSharing3.html It offers keyframable control over vector based swarming behavior of particles.

Thank God for out of work Maya gurus. :D But, I can't believe a guy like you isn't working. Maybe you are on a sabbatical by choice as I am? (I'm taking a couple of years off to learn Maya.)

You've got all those scripts, but I can't tell what most of them do since there are no descriptions. :(

I left my job by choice.

Most of the scripts have their descriptions imbedded in them. The convention is to notate what they do at the beginning of the script. I'll take a look at the ones that may not and update them.

So what are you doing now? Freelancing?

I'm currently working on rewriting some scripts from scratch that I built for Sierra so that they can be used by the general public, some short subject stuff that I've wanted to get to for a long time and interviewing for new gigs. Of course, there's a generous portion of vacation time thrown in for good measure.

The first rewritten tool is my pose librarian, UltraPose, available at www.highend3d.com.

I downloaded some scripts from you, but I think I'm still too much of a noob to use them. :p

Actually isn't there a way to do that in face mode too?
I saw it done once, and i thought they used BonusGame plugin. But i went and got it and i still can't figure out how to do it....

I wish i could remember!
