View Full Version : Cross Section like - Modeling Technique

I am trying to remember a technique that is similar to Cross Section, except that it only needs 2 splines, or 3 if one end of the Tube-like shape is not the same as the opposite end.

The first spline defines the shape of the end number one, the second spline defines the shape of the end number two, and the 3rd spline defines the length and the shape of the whole tube when looked at from the profile view angle.

I hope this is clear.

Thanks in advance guys,

P.S. I promise the number of my posts will decline soon, I am just in my catching-up period right now :(

It's called "Lofting".

Create/Geometry/Compound Objects/Loft
There you have options to pick shapes(cross sections) and path

Correct, you guys were right, it is Lofting ;)
Now the only thing I need to figure out is how to use a second or more shapes on the same path.
Not that I will need the following example, but just for the purpose of the argument, like what about a tube that starts with a circular shape, but ends with a star?

Thanks,

He he he....

I found a great tutorial page on this topic:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

After going through that tutorial I pretty much succeeded, except that there is one more tiny little concern I have.

Have a look at the image included here. As you can see although the top shape is a perfect circle, the beggining of the trunk of my elephant stopped looking like a circle from the moment I added the second shape at the end of the trunk. Also even though I have toyed around with the values in the "Path Parameters" section of the Loft modifier settings, I cannot get the top of the trunk to look like a circle anymore.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance guys :)
