Hi all, this is going to be my first project I want to try to bring people into because I know my strong suits as well as my weaknesses. I'm more of an animator, concept artist, and cinematographer so what I'm looking for is Modelers/Texture Artists and Riggers. I will need 3 character models/rigs, an underground cave of sorts, and a ship built. Please private message me with a link to your work and availability. If you would like to just help out as well I would be eternally grateful and you will receive full credit for your part. The purpose of the trailer is generate funding for a pilot episode to pitch for studios, I believe in building bridges and would keep the team that helps with this trailer as far as this project takes us. Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Hey everyone, have a small team made up of a Technical Artist for rigging and 2 writers. I'm still hoping to find someone to help with the modeling and texturing so I can just concentrate on the Concept Art, Animation, and Cinematography. If you have any interest in these fields and would like to contribute, it would be greatly appreciated to lighten the load. Thanks for viewing and hope to talk to some of you soon.

Hi Ghost, I dont want to go into detail here because everyone on the project has signed an NDA before I tell them what the project is about. Have to cover my bases for something that means a lot to me. The models would consist of 2 alien creatures, a main character, and a ship. All in the realm of sci fi and good level of detail. I sent you an email and didnt get a response back as of yet, if you would ike to just send it to me my email is rigo@martinez3d.com

Hello all, got a good story down in a script and the concept art phase is about to be finished at the end of this week. Would really help the whole project if I can find someone for the modeling and texturing so I can concentrate on animatics, lighting, animation, and cinematography. If I can't find someone by the end of this week, it will be closed due to the deadline I'm sticking to and I will have to do the modeling and texturing myself. Please have mercy lol either way check out SpaceFiends.com for updates starting next week if you are interested in at least following the project, I will still be posting here once we break into the 3D and digital paintings aspect of it all. Hope you guys follow and enjoy the project as it progresses. thanks for viewing.

Hey everyone, just dropping an update on where we are on the project. I'm currently working on the finalized shots for the opening scene with the ship landing and will be uploading that here sometime this weekend. Its coming along great and Dan helped me out by making the planets and starfield background for me to insert the ship I built. Just doing some ZBrush work on the alien terrain and cave to get those sets ready for the next set of scenes. Dan is also beginning to rig the main bad guy creature so I can start blocking out the fight sequences with him and our main character, vector, this weekend. Greg made an awesome model of our big alien creature from our concepts and I couldn't have asked for better, its just perfect and what I wanted it to be, BIG THANKS to Gregory Strangis and his awesome skills. We're only showing the first opening shots until the Saturday July 2nd launch of the whole trailer so remember to visit spacefiends.com that day to see a months hard work of concepts, designing, rigging, lighting, texturing, and animation. By industry standards this is considered to be an impossible deadline to have something go from concepts to finished approx. 3 minute trailer in one month, but we would like to show that with some hard work, great team collaboration, and dedication, a small crew 3 can get some good work completed. As always thanks for viewing and following the project and we hope you enjoy watching our work when its completed.

Here is what we have completed so far, just a taste. We moved our deadline 2 weeks to get it done properly, hard to complete something so detailed from concept art to finished trailer in only one month lol Still a great learning experience and love collaborating with the crew :) Enjoy and thanks for viewing.

Hey all, was wondering if there are any artists out there who know how to rig character models. I'm getting into the home stretch finishing up the cave which is heavily detailed before I start animating and rendering final scenes. Anyone who would like to lend a hand would be greatly appreciated and will get full credit for the work they do that you can use on your reel and websites. You can email me at rigo@martinez3d.com with your skillset and reel/online portfolio, like I said any help will be greatly appreciated since this project is getting soo close to completion. Thanks for viewing everyone.

GReat to hear you are moving along so well!

Just a suggestion-
When calling for tasks like this, good to list your apps for people to zero in quickly.

Totally Agree and I have to Add that you might also specify the kind of task that you expect the modeler , animator or Rigger to Do

Hey everyone, still hard at work trying to get everything to look how I pictured in my head. Here is the place in the cave where the item Vector is looking for is located. I've been doing a lot of different approaches to making this cave and it has been difficult but figured everything close to camera I will be modeling in Maya then sculpting in ZBrush to get the details I want while things farther away from the camera will be geometry with high detailed bump maps. Maya had been crashing when I tried making the whole cave high rez so that was just not going to happen on my current hardware lol Anyway here is a test for lighting around one of the main parts of the trailer/short. Sorry its soo dark still adding all the small crystals on the hanging rock spire.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foTvqqB3fj4

on another note for space fiends I was animating his ships and I wasn't satisfied with the quality of the modeling I had done so I re-designed it a bit and started modeling it today, hopefully get that done soon to re-render the opening shots until the ship lands in the cave. Thanks for viewing and all your advice guys I really do appreciate it.

Nice to see your update...vid is dark as you warned, so hard to see much, but what I can see looks good!

For the cystals, in Maya, you might want to look into using geometry paint if you haven't yet...would speed it up for you! > MAYA geometry paint tut (http://vimeo.com/5147726)

Hey all, been tackling this ship and I can't get it to look the way I want. I'm not a great hard surface modeler so if anyone is interested in the details of the ship email me at rigo@martinez3d.com with some samples and we'll go from their, thanks in advance for any inquiries.
