I recently started this, my first character model. Although I will most likely be chopping the head off and remodelling a body to make a real character, I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could model a pretty much anatomically correct body.

Modelled in Maya 5, poly modelling, although I worked in subd's alot. Please critique my modelling like mad, so that in the future I do not make the same mistakes. Thanks :)

Nice start! I can see a couple of problems you might need to address though.

The topology is very heavy around the nose/lips area - alright if it's just a still model but if you aim to do facemorphs it will be problematic.

The proportions of the model's body are out - the legs seem far too long, but I think this might be corrected by bringing the hips down and enlarging them slightly - they are very boyish at the moment.

Hope that's some help...

Thanks for the crits!

The topology could be a lot less dense in the nose and lips area, in fact it originally was, but I fell into a trap of adding to many edge loops which were not necessary. Next time, I won't make that mistake. This head however will not be used for face morphs

I've tweaked the proportions a bit, heres an update:

more crits please :)

Looks great.

I think it could use some work around the nostril creases and eyelid creases. Also, you can see it more in the profile view.. the forehead shouldn't dome outward.

This website is indispensable, I always use it as a reference: http://www.primitivex.com/w_ann.html

i think her arms might be too long too, if i'm not mistaken, your from finger tip to finger tip should be your height, and another trick is your feet are the same size as your forearms, there's a bunch more like that, i'm sure, but i don't know them

Okay, I tweaked a few more proportions, added a a tad bit of detail to the eyes, and fixed the doming forhead. I think this will be my last update to this model, as I am pretty much pleased with how it has come out, and I can go on from here and create a real character.

unless you're going for late adolesence, the breasts seem just a bit small and underdeveloped... the sag on them seems about right for an adult female, but they seem a bit too pointy... I would fill them in a little more (just a little, mind you, avoid super boobs at all costs) and round them out just a tad... but, really, outstanding work...

also, pull the area where the shoulder meets the chest up a bit....
