Hey everyone this is part of my WWII series. So far I have my Half Ton Dodge (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=906213#post906213) finished and now I’m trying to complete my Corsair. I have two problems facing me at the moment. The first is I need everyone’s help in getting photos; I need to see what the mold looks like that holds the blades together.

I can’t find any sites that have any up-close detail of the beautiful craftsmanship of the engine and blades. I have found ones with four blades but all the ones with three are so small I can’t read what’s going on. If any of you could find High Rez photos this would be most appreciated. The second is I have a general idea what the radiator looks like (the vent looking thing close to the body) and have photos of it as well.

The problem is it has a rounded part that smoothly connects to the part of wing. The thing I’m confused about is the under belly of the wing. Does this curve go back to the mid section of the underside of the wing? From all the photos that I’ve collected I can’t seem to get any of the undersides of the wing.

Thank you all in advanced for your help!

Hehe - looking good so far but bizzarely enough I started modelling one of these last week in nurbs [maya] which is proving to be err.. challenging so I'm sure you'll finish first.

I might have some useful pictures at work but I'll have to wait until Monday till I know for sure.

Good start so far (I'm not working on a corsair anymore BTW, the spec now calls for a Hellcat).

Here's my observations so far though

You've got loads of detail in the engine but depending how you end up rendereing this, it might not be seen. Most phot's of WWII planes I've seen have the engine in deep shadow.

Conversly the throttle flaps at the rear of the engine housing (I think that's what they are?) are very simple yet they will always be seen more than the engine.

I think there are way too many polys on the prop and engine block. These polys could be used much better if you 'micro-bevelled' certain edges. Most of the edges in the engine area are razor sharp and would look more natural if the edges were softened.
