Hello, I just finished my first solo 3d project (2nd 3d project), Colorize, and my new website. So I'd like to share it with u guys.
The short animation is a project I did for school. It was done in 8 weeks, starting from "skratch"... Mainly focused on character design and animation. Hope to get some feedback on it! Aswell on my new website, RomanStyle (http://www.romanstyle.com), on wich u can find some more recent work.

small divx (4mb) (http://pong.hku.nl/~roman/video/COLORIZE_SMALL.AVI) (50% screensize, bad sound)

normal divx (10mb) (http://pong.hku.nl/~roman/video/COLORIZE_DIVX.AVI) ("ok" quality)

big indeo (75mb) (http://pong.hku.nl/~roman/video/COLORIZE_INDEO.AVI) ("perfect" quality)

This is Noname, the main character.

It's a cool idea, and I like the design, but (there's always a but, isn't there...) the animation and editing weren't very well done.

You seemed to re-use the same clips over and over and some of the camera cuts were a little over the top. For example when he walks on the bridge and it turns red, you had like 6 or 7 cuts, you could've done it with fewer cuts and still got the point across.

As for the animation, it seemed a little floaty and unfinished. Example, when he gets up after landing on (or should that be smacking into?) the bridge, he doesn't really use his arms and legs to get up, he just rotates up.

With some more work on animation and editing, it can be a really good short.

About your site:

It's an interesting idea with the small window, the problem is, it's REALLY small when you have a screen rez of 1600x1200. Maybe make it a little larger?

Urgaffel thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
I agree on what u say about the montage, and I suppose I'd been better of if I'd created a good storyboard. Most was based on improvisation. Also it was based on the fast cuts ad in music vid.clips. Also my animation is to "flat", but that's something that through doing these kind of school projects evolves, hopefully. Any tips on learning/progressing within animation?

Nice that you like the idea and design, maybe a reason to put some more work into it, if I got some time.:hmm: :)

Nice thing about these small projects is all the new things you learn from it, and getting all inspired for new projects. ;)

1600*1200 is quite high res. :)

Hope to get more feedback, also on the character design.
