If you overwrote the mel script without saving the original elsewhere then unfortunately you'd have to reinstall maya. But I would suggest you to install the plugin again following carefuly the installation instruction of the caustics plug and try again.
If it doesn't work install maya again. Usually it doesnt work because of a missed step in the installation which is quite simple but it happens eve in the best families, hehehe.
Good luck!

if you are using maya 4
then you have to download Maya Caustics plugin updated for Maya 4 - NT (you are proberly using this one already)

Error: Cannot find procedure "caustics".
this is the message "caustics" sometimes chenges for another thing but still can make caustics.
I try sending a message to alias hotline but they just send an e-mail telling me that soon some one will contact me.
Well, that is weird, maybe violator is right, you might be trying to install an older version of caustics. Usually that error pops up when one of the scripts isn't installed in the right folder or you may have your scripts directory set to a different folder.

Here is a email a recived from maya:mad: :
Hi Yahid,
The caustics plug-in is not supported - sorry. I did ask around as to why this (your error) would happen and found nothing. If you have modified .mel scripts without back-up I would suggest reinstalling the program. After your new install you should not have any problems installing the plug-in (assuming that you are not performing a custom install).
Jason
I just delete the lines tat the caustics plug inn add to the mel script and all the instaled files and everything is normal again, I'll try to download the update for Maya 4.1 and see wath happens then C-ya.
