Does anyone knows whether it's feasible to assing a kyb-shortcut to the "Select and Move" tool ?

I think the closest I have come to it was the "Select Object" and the "Select & Manipulate" tools.

"Move Mode" is exactly the same as Select and Move, dunno why the actual UI icon has a distinct name.

Thanks Ian! That was a quick reply too :)

I actually assigned two tools to buttons on my mouse, it works just fine!
It should cut my mouse travelling by half almost!

Move, Rotate, and Scale are also right at the very top of the default Quad menu (right-click menu), which is just as fast as hotkeys.

That's right! I totally forgot about the Quad menus.

Since we are talking about tools, "Select and Manipulate" is one I still don't quite understand. What is the difference/advantage of it over the regular "Select Object" tool ?
I have read the tutorials and I still don't get it.

Some objects or modifiers have settings which can be adjusted from the viewport with Select and Manipulate, but since I don't use it at all I wouldn't know what they are (seem to remember the UVW Map mod being maipulate-able though).

IK chains have swivel manips that become visible in Select and Manipulate mode. Also, you need to be in that mode to tweak viewport manipulators like sliders and such. Certain modifiers have manipulators as well, but I can't remember which ones.
