View Full Version : FWIW - Alienware Challenge
SouthernLaw 10-24-2003, 10:36 PM Howdy,
Just thought I'd let folks know I've decided to try my hand at the Alienware challenge. Actually, it works out really well since the subject of the challenge ties in almost perfectly with a project I'm working on anyway.
And of course, I'll be doing it A:M :argh:

Okay. I knew I was asking for trouble when I decided to do this thing in A:M...
My scene is now approching 8,000 patches and I'm just getting started. About 50% of the time when I do a render to file - when I hit "OK" on the settings dialogue box - it crashes to the desktop.
I've tried all of the usual remedies but nothing helps. It's crashed about 4 times in the last hour. :banghead:
Does anyone know what the last stable version of 10.5 was (I'm using 10.5m) and where I might find it? Or should I just download Wegg's Hash to LW tutorial and give up on A:M?

Um, k is the one I tended to gravitate to, but I'm using n right now, might want to grab it and see, if you haven't already.
It's 10.0n which is considered "stable" by most, I haven't seen any consensus on 10.5 versions yet (And since none of them has shaded rendering working for me I'm not going to rubberstamp any yet...)

Southern Law -
First of all, best of luck with the challenge. Please show us what you've got cookin' so far.
In regards to the tutorial - if you've got LW and you still will be using A:M at all I'd recommend the tute. Its cheap and will make life easier when you do want to export those models, whether for this challenge or other.
And you also might want to check the [bughunt] threads if you haven't already.
I'm now gonna check your other thread. Keep on!!

Thanks for the tips! I've got 10.5n now and we'll see how well that one works out. If it still gives me problems then I'll probably be begging one of you wise archivers out there for the 10.0n installer.:)
