Okay I am having an odd problem with my skeleton setup. Okay i place all teh joints where i want them in this case in the fingers. I have zeroed out the rotations that they had before i put an ik handle on it. The preferred angle is set also before i put the ik in the finger. Then i save teh file and open it and the joints have all gone to different positions very far from the place that i have them saved. I don't know if this is an option that i have to check or if it is just Maya having a glitch? Any help would be appreciated i am using Maya 4.5. Thanks for the help

I'm not quite understanding your problem.. You said that when you reopen you file the joints reposition them self?

And scripts that reorient joints all they do is alighn the rotation.
But I dont thinck that your problem..

Sorry if it is unclear it is an odd problem. Okay i have my skeleton placed exactly where i want it to fit in my character and i have not bound it to the skin yet. my problem focuses on teh hands no other joints on the skeleton act up just teh fingers. Here is what happens. I save my file once i had all teh joints perfect before i start binding teh skin. I reopened teh same file that i just saved and the positioning of my fingers tweak like crazy. I mean i had teh rotations all zeroed but when i reopened the file the finger joints rotated by themselves to completely odd places. Also if i tried to reopen the file teh finger joints tweak even more each time. I am pretty sure Maya is having some kinda glitch but i would really Love to be wrong because the only thing i can do right now is to reposition teh fingers not save and completly bind teh skin all at once OR delete the finger joints maybe all teh way back to the wrist and redo the hands. Anyways if someone comes up with an idea for me to try i would gladly comply. Thanks for your time.

I thinck is a Maya glitch I have never heard or seen something like that. The only thinck that comes across my mind would be to delete history and freaze transformations on the joints..

try selecting the root joint of your skeleton and then in the command line:

select -hi

then use the quick rename input box to rename all of your joints.

After this, save as .ma and bring it all back into a new scene.

Well apparently it was a maya problem teh computers where having because there was some virus on it playing with the coding or something like that i was told. This after i rebuilt my skeleton twice and renamed my joints 3 times and tried every trick i could come up with...Yeah i feel it was all worthwhile. HAHA oh well it's straight now so thanks for your help.
