View Full Version : rendering environment reflections in vray with Sun/Sky?

You would think it would be a simple matter of plugging one's file node containing the texture to be used for reflections (in this case an HDRI) into the 'Reflection texture' slot under Environment in the Vray Render Globals. However this seems to result only in my nice reflective glass windows reflecting nothing, and showing as black when looking in one and out another.

What is the 'correct' method of obtaining reflections from a texture while still using Sun&Sky for lighting?

Working for me.
Just break the connection of the sky in the reflection environment and connect your texture file.

Yeah been doing that of course :)

I have my spherical HDRI texture in the 'reflection', 'refraction', and 'background' slots under Environment in the vray Render Globals. I have left vraysky plugged into the 'GI texture' slot. 'Override environment' is checked.

The background texture is not rendering at all, just black. Even when I leave vraysky plugged into the 'background' slot I still get the black background. :cry:
