first time -I'm not to sure about how this all works, but here goes...
This is unfortunately inspired by what's been going on in many parts of the world right now
Anyway, here's the start

Can anyone let me know how to get an embedded image in this thread as opposed to the thumbnail (above)- thanks

Hello mate,

I went to photobucket.com and did an account. Then I upload in there. Once uploaded I select the image I want and to your right hand side you see the codes. I get the image code at the bottom of all the options. (IMG Code) Then just paste it to your message.

Hope that works ;)

thanks for the info- I'll try it with the next time I post- not enough time today, so I'll just post this newer version and let CGSociety do what it needs to do...

Thumbnails - not the best, huh? My thoughts too. Now though, like arokz I grabbed an account from imageshack (free) and uploaded my images there. Then followed the steps below in the attached thumbnail (I didn't want this plastered amongst your WIP thread as a conspicuously large image on how to embed - just a hunch but thought you might not like that...).

Bring on the God of Brutality - large scale!

Thanks, Budley- also thanks for just using an attached jpg to demonstrate the procedure.

Hey Paul,

Nice design and looks amazing. It looks like this god is looking for a challenge!! He seems to be looking for someone to kill! I like the body structure and the anatomy at best. Can't wait to see it in color, take care for now.

Looking good so far! I like the design, I'm sure it'll be great with more details and some little mortals around. Keep it up, good luck!

Nice character Paul. It's a shame i just seen your entry. No doubt it'll look lovely once finished with your rendering skills.
Just a thought , to give it bit more movement, maybe you can rotate the horizon line a little? Or maybe you have some other idea for it? It looks great, just needs a little bit movement i think.
Keep up the great work

I really like the start of this. He definitely looks brutal and mean. The one thing I would suggest is doing something to really establish the scale of your god. Right now you have some buildings but they're in the distance so its impossible to measure. I really have no indication if this guy is human-sized or 1,000 feet tall. The lack of identifiable markers detracts from his "godliness" and makes him look like a more generic ogre monster... thing. Maybe the crushed remains of an army around his feet? Just a thought.

Great start though! :)

Yigit- thanks for writing and your insight. I'm not sure what you meant about the horizontal axis, but I'm guessing you mean what I've done in the embedded image-it seems to give it more action:

Dreadreaper- Your suggestion was most helpful- thanks

Anyway--Here's the most recent version-worked totally on the background. I havent yet altered the pose like the previous image- I need to decide which works better- comments are always appreciated

Incorporated the position change, intensified the color and values, and worked on some minor background things- so here's where it's at today:
