Hello ,

My country, Brazil, is a beautifully contraditory place.

We have huge modern cities, full of multiplexes, and fancy cars, and junk food - but we also have forests so dark and deep one could easily get lost in them, after just a few minutes walking.
These are places of strange sounds and sights; lands of legend and whispered myths; of constant rain, and points of eternal shadow...

For my entry, I´ll re-create one of these legendary Forests.
I´ll also show a glimpse of Curupira - he´s a Guardian of the Forest. He takes care of the animals and plants, and is said that if he finds someone hunting for sport, or being cruel to the animals, he gets REAL mad.

For now, I have a quick sketch, with very few details. But I hope it can show the mood I want for the piece:

... and I´ve started the temporary blocking of the scene.

I´ll try to update this until next weekend.

See you!

A beutiful description of your inspiration. And your sketch looks great as well. I love the mood it sets and the depth of the layers mooving back into the piece.

It's a great idea I look forward to seeing more.

great work!! i like those mossy things creeping on the trunk! the character is also way cool!

you might wat to start branching out the trunk where it starts to bend, to look more spooky.

keep it up!

Thanks a lot, levin!:)

I'm planning to add many other plants and foliage to the scene.

Also , you're right - the trees are really simple right now. I'll add branches and roots to them soon.

See ya!

Very nice! I really like how your textures make the simple geometry look so detailed.

Desculpa, cara.

Hi Pearson,

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I hope to work a lot more on the geometry, quite soon.

I live in São Paulo , and it's located in the SouthEast region of Brazil. There really are a few brazillian CGTalkers from São Paulo and Rio, but there are great professionals from all around our country.
Our CG community is growing up really fast, in numbers and talent.

By the way, when did you live in Brasil?? We have computers in the whole country right now. :surprised

The book is on the table. Vamu lá... hehehe....
My english is terrible, but...Let's keep trying.

Btw, back to the subject, your entry looks awesome Alexandre (Pentagramma). I hope to see the upgrades soon ! :)

Seria legal morar no brasil be novo! O pago e sufficiente pra morar no Rio? Cuais otras companias fazem 3d?

Russo:
Yes, it does!!

Pearson:
Foz do Iguaçú is absolutely amazing - I've visited it a few times, and it's quite a place. For those who never heard about it, it's a group of waterfalls, located at a brazilian National Park ( I believe James Bond almost fell out of it years ago!:) ).

I 'm a little rusty on my brazilian folklore, but doesn't Curupira have feet facing backward so people would have a hard time tracking him?

Well... anyway, great job man, I can't wait to see it finished. (What software are you using, by the way?)

(Yes, another damned brazilian on this thread...)
