Does anyone know how do i make a shader what reflects nearly like a mirror, but if its gray, then every object reflected is also grey?

What i meen is shader that reflects objects, but doesent reflect their colour.

Thx in advanced !

I bother you by saying do it in post process after rendering in 2 layers, or may someone gives us a clue.

definitely a post job.
render the complete sequence, and then render the reflective material as a white mask layer.
use that to desaturate the reflections in post.

i dont think that there is a reasonable way to achieve what you want in maya

cheers

I did a little test and managed to get a grayscale reflection.
Make a duplicate of the mirror object and turn off primary visibility.
Then connect the duplicates shaders out color to a RGB to luminance node which you connect to the out color of a surface shader and apply it to the original mirror object.
Dont know if my explanation made sense but it works.

thank's. I dont quite understand everything you say, but as soon as i get home ill try your sollution.

Actualy what i needed is a glass that reflects like this. I am dooing some arhitectual modeling and windows on the building are like that.

Again thx, you saved my life.

Hi Ozren

I found this little section to make a realistic reflection like a mirror:

Specular reflection is the direct reflection of light by a surface. Shiny surfaces reflect almost all incident light and therefore have bright specular highlights or hot spots. The location of a highlight moves as you move your eye, while keeping the light source and the surface at the stationary positions. In order to make a surface mirror-like, decrease the diffuse reflection and increase the specular reflection.

So I tried it and yes it works - put the diffuse on 0 and the specular on Maximum.

Cool man
