View Full Version : Dominance War V-Dhoumeia- God of celestial bodies
glupman 04-13-2011, 02:26 PM Here is the god in which I believe, an Artist - or should I say 'The Artist'?-. Inside its changeable humanoid shell (which can be modified anytime),
coexist the nothingness and the living light.
this God is a creator, and human kind, as a product of its creativity, represents only a small part of its boundless creation.
The universe is its canvas, flowing from its back, as a nothingness-blacky fluid where She gives birth to her creation painting with her brush-like right arm.
My aim is to capture the marvellous gesture of her act of creation.

Nice lighting on the latest one, and on #5. Uplighting often adds an air of menace to a piece and it suits your characters well.

Very expressive sketches and I like the development, he has a very ethereal feel to him. The last concept maybe looks a little too much like a wasp though

Creating a pollock!
The concept first on page 2, I really like. The left arm I would like longer, more like a bug.
Anyway, good job. You look excited, keep it up.

Here you have the first study of her body-carcass. It looks like a kind of exoskeleton (It reminds me of Simon Bisley style. Im glad to have taken this approach).
I´m really enjoying this first creative stage although I´m aware there is still a lot of work to do.

Brainstorming stage is finished.I think I´m going for a color schemme of black white and cyan.I still have my doubts on the final composition,
I don´t know if at the end of the road I will choose a dynamic or more relaxed pose.
But in fact my main problem now is where to put the logo...

opsite, jesusguijarro, davidramonilustracion thanks a lot for your comments I take them into account.
here is my last texturing study. Once again this is not going in the right direction.
This steampunk style is very atractive to me but I think it doesn´t fit well for a Goddess.
Nevertheless I´m going to recycle this aproach for future designs, I Think it´s worth it.

Nice updates.
I agree with you, maybe this kind of old rusty metal isn't the right choice for a goddess of celestial bodies, although weird experiments can lead to happy mistakes :)

looks really like it, but if you feel that it's not going to be useful...

Finally I have reached the final step.
I´ve opted for a Zbrush maquette in order to develop a clearer view of volumes and shapes.
This an optimal way to ensure the concept is transalatable into a game mesh.
I still need to polish my sculpting and then I think I´m gonna put the logo in the croach area.
Nowadays I´m a bit overwhelmed by my work at the studio but If I have enough spare time I´d like to reach the dead line.
Regards and thanks a lot for the comments.

Are you sure you are allowed to use 3d programs for a 2d image?
I think the design is really cool though
glupman
05-13-2011, 07:56 AM
Hi Pavel,
I´m aware the final image has to be a 2d illustration and a 2d model sheet, but maybe you are right I am not allowed.
However, nowadays there are many paths and techniques to solve a 2d image, for example you can combine traditional hand drawing with the use of photo reference,3d meshes,
and rendered lights and atmospheres. At the end of the day I think it doesn´t matter what techniques, resources, softwares and tools you rely on if you get an interesting concept.
The boundaries between 2d and 3d on this days are blurry, the best part of being a concept artist today is that technology is at your side. Enjoy it.
