We are redoing our company Demoreeel aswell as my own and would like some crits and wits on how be itz.
The renders are being done in LW but modeling; a combination of Rhino3D and XSI:rolleyes:
Need crits and advice on how to shade a white or off white metalic cabin shell. White painted metal/steel.

since no one else is going to say anything i will...too good to let it pass by with out notice.

i guess u havent finished the fixtures yet because they r in very stark contrast to the rest of the textures, but they may not be finished
also the lighting may be doing it but the fixtures look like they are floating but prob fom the lighting

pretty cool though,i was just roaming around looking at some referance photos and urs looks really good actually
the only thing is might add a gradient to mask the rust on the +y axis to vary the effect of the textures,if you look at anything rusty there seems to be less the higher the object and more dirt and rust the lower on the object
like where you have the seams(in the upper right render)they should be a little darker do to water settling on them,u know from moss or mold

looks good though!

Hi Mwai !

The rust is very interesting.
What kind of render is this ? Radio ? and lights ? They look like plain raytraced one.
2 things come to my mind :
It reminds me some of the demo pic PMG have on their site, I suggest you check them out.

For the metal thing, I suggest the use of HDR pic as backdrop for reflections. It will reboost the bright white shiny that is missing in your metal.
I would also try with some area lights, to diffuse those shadow. And try also to setup a mood (like, for example, soft blue light ambient to a more yellow pale one)

Pretty good job, not far from an excellent result

Thanx for the gradient Y tip, it actually helped alot. I'm still rendering a more complete version. 60% done so far. I'll adjust the lighting further to make it more evident but I'm glad you are convinced I'm going in the right direction. You didn't mention the 50 things in the renders that I feel do not make it buyable at all, so in that sense I guess I'm in the right direction.

Hey Facial !! thanx to as I think there is too much rust aswel, try tell that to my colleague. The render is of a river barge for use in a matte painting of Venice. Looking at it now it does kinda look similar to the PMG renders ( can't wait for that) The lighting is lame but the new renders are turning out to be alot better looking. I'm using BG GI and so far the render looks great, the HDR tip adds the right look to the cabin. I didn;t want to add luminance to the anything, screws up my shadows.
