Grgeon 04-12-2011, 12:22 AM Has anyone here taken a houdini course over at fxphd? Just wondering what your thoughts were on them? Looking to sign up either there or digital tutors subscription.
Thanks,

I am curious how much people can benefit from them. Do share how you find them, Grgeon. hehee

I've taken two, the ones by Val Cripps.
They are very focused on VFX work, and even though they do go at a decent pace and cover interesting topics, they lack the kind of knowledge a Peter Quint brings. Sometimes she will talk about something knowing what it does, but not why it was designed like the way it is, which I always find frustrating, because then it becomes about memorizing functions and not "knowing" them.

Thanks for the feedback Rurik. I wonder how Andrew Lowell's course fairs. It's an intermediate course.
I might just check it out and give some feedback here those who are curious as well.
Thanks again,
GC
