Hi,

I was wondering how does one go about creating a muzzle flash in 3ds max 4. I'm currently working on an animated short and I have no idea how to go about creating the muzzle flashi look in my animation. If anyone can guide me on the proper course I wuld appreciate it.

To all you CG dudes, keep it up, it all looks good!

Here is a pic of the CG short that I'm working on.

Thanks

Hi LW,

I did a similar thing using two spherical atmospheric gizmos and fire effect in the enivironment effects.

The two gizmos make the overall shape of the flash, the second one was non-uniformly scaled to look like the spitting part.
I used the tendril flame type and animated the stretch and density over the life of each flash.
I also created an omni to light the gun and robot every time the gun fired ats atmospherics don't light the environment. This was done by animating its multiplier on at the the appropriate times.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll try using the 2 gizmos and will let you how they turn out.
