This is going to be my first challenge, and here is my initial concept image for my Dominance War V entry. Entitled: God of Cosmos. Since my painting skills are utter garbage it will no doubt change considerably from this to the final product, but this is probably a decent representation of what it might look like....

Simple basemesh from zspheres I'm going to use for all the armor bits and such. I'll probably use this part to create the inner nebula as well...

Hey, good work. Is godlike and those planets around his hands let me understand the cosmos idea, with the nebulas in his body surrounded be the armor.
My 2 cents go for one maybe stars goind around some parts, giving the idea of differents planes of existence, time and space, differents sizes of planets two... but just with little white dots work for me.

Thanks for the feedback! I was kind of thinking the same thing, just didn't convey that in the concept I guess. I might use the CGsociety logo as the shape for some of the nebula elements, or something along those lines.... I also want it to feel like you don't know exactly where he begins and where he ends, a sense of infinity if you will. Not sure yet how I'll pull that off in game geometry, but I'll think of something...

Things are starting to take shape now, been detailing some parts, adding new ones... Had to kind of rethink how I was doing this and I decided to remove his multiple eyes since I've noticed a lot of people adding lots of eyes into their designs...I added some sort of core, which isn't finished yet obviously, but I kind of like the idea of having the nebula parts be isolated to a sort of vascular system, or at least constraint to some sort of path...
This is going to be a challenge to retopologize and keep within the guidelines that's for sure...

After a week being too busy to work on my entry I came back to it only to realize I just couldn't get behind it anymore...I liked my initial concept but somewhere I just started to see it as completely disconnected from anything I was expecting it to be. I couldn't see any sort of main through-line connecting any of his design elements. So I decided to go a different route.
So I busted out a quick zsphere mesh in 2 parts and created this dude. He will have a more classic godly look about him, while borrowing some of the elements and the ideas from my first one. Like nebula insides, possibly for blood or just glowing flesh inside. And floaty armor pieces like on the legs that are sort of replacing those specific muscles...
Let me know what you guys think. Is this new design an improvement? Or should I stick to my guns and keep up with the previous design?
