Yep. A failed assertion, from what I know, results when something inside max gets an unexpected value. When you get one of those, stability is compromised. I usually deal with those by hitting the retry button till the dialogue goes away, saving my scene, and exiting and relaunching max. Hope it helps! Cheers!
