#2 of 3, the Terminal represents the end of a life, and how, even though the end is at hand and a great unknown approaching, you can't help but notice the beauty and intricasy of it.
The contest asked for an alien world, how much more "alien" can it get than such a great unknown?

Very nice use of color... really gives the feeling of brightness. I also like the way the light almost looks "smokey" as its emitting from the center.
One crit: it looks like water in the background, so the light almost looks like lens flare reflecting off of water.
Oh, and you set your "milestone" to "final image". You might want to ask an admin to change it for you.
I'll be back to check out you updates!

I'm not quite sure 'bout this one, suggestions welcome :)

Thanx for the crit. zbgump, my initial goal with this piece was to make it look like a portal under the water... after working on it for a while (and a little slipup ;) ) I saw something I liked and it took a different twist. Guess it still retains some of the inital goal. :D

Hmm yes, I like it much more with the semi-representational image in the center. The portal idea could be a good direction.
One idea that comes to mind is to perhaps "warp": the imagery of the water as it gets closer to the center of the portal. I'm not sure, and I'm not sure if thats a direction you want to go in.
Actually the more that I look at it, it seems you are already doing that. :)
I like the direction you're going. I like the colors; perhaps you could play with some other color schemes for the hell of it?
I'm definately most fond of the smokey light!

hmm, alternate coloring would be fun to do just for the hell of it... :D the furthur I get into this process, the more I anticipate/dread working it into maya ... :hmm:
<---isn't that good with 3D programs yet :p
:) thanx for the comments!
