I don't think it's possible :/ I need a different approach in modelling cars.... not patch by patch i think.

at first : no way without patches.
i will draw you a plan how you should detach and attach the surfaces etc.

ok here's a way to get the best out of it now. usually i would like to extract the curves and then build it new, but this will help a bit of understanding patch modelling maybe.
1. detach at the red positions
attach the surfaces : (always make sure that the surface with the more isoparms is the "heroe", means that the isoparms shouldn't get lost)
1-2
2-3
4-6
7-5
then you could try global stitch with the following settings to smooth out a bit.
closest knot & equal params
so this is really just a way to give you an advice. it will not give the best result. patch modelling is just like a puzzle. at first you always have to make sure that your curves are good and the tangents also.
i would swear that there is a way cool car modelling tutorial posted a while ago here on the board. look at this maybe :)

take it as a learning session. no one ever made a perfect car the first time :) it's not really easy to get the puzzel working.

Shit this just ****s imo.... still don't get it right... i bet i have to align all those damn isoparms to 1 line with eachother... cus now i have this and i still can't stitch them together nicely.

I think patchmodelling in max is a better way of doing this.
Does any of u have an audi TT modelled in maya and wanna give me some tips??? :bounce:

take a look at http://homepage.mac.com/mikethomson/Tutorial/tutorial.html - that's a very detailed tutorial on builing a car with nurbs in maya - maybe you can gain some ideas
