Does anyone know where i might beable to find a program that installs a printer on my pc. So if i want to print a word document i select it in my printer settings and print. But instead of printing it stores it. then if i want to print fomr xls or from IE i select that printer again and hit print. then when im done with everything im going to print i can finish the batch so to speak and print it all together with print to file.
Cause the company i work for needs to upload files to a certain website. Before they would just physically deliver the hardcopies. So to save paper and runner costs we just upload files. But alot of papers that need to be delievered are from different applications. So not to have to upload mulitple files with a 1of4 description, im looking for a software that might beable to do this for me. or concatenate prn files.
thanks.

sure, no software needed. Do this:

start menu > printers > open your default printer > printer > pause printing.

now click print as many times as u need in any applications you need and by the time you are done, go back in there and unpause it and everything should be good to go.

Not really because i want to beable to print to a single file. if i do it like that it will still be multiple files. :(

hmm... in that case, I'm not too sure what you're talking about. FRom what you describe, it would still be queuing the documents into multiple files on the spooler. What diff would it make if everything were on one spool job? It's like printing a single 10MB file or printing 10 1MB files... what's the diff?

we need to print to file. In other words its like using the pdf writer and instead of printing print to pdf, or create a pdf file out of what you print instead of printing it. So what im tring to figure out is how i can make it easier for the ladies that will be uploading the files and so they dont have to upload multiple files per loan#. So i want to try and figure out how i can make it or software wise append to the previous job and keep appending till shes done then create a single file.

ah, gotcha. In that case, why not do everything I recommended above, except this time, instead of doing a regular print, let it "print to file," which can be defined in your print options. I think that might do it... otherwise, I'm not sure what else I can tell yah other than to figure out another way to streamline the work process if there isn't any software out there immediately available for what you're asking.

print to file in windows makes a raw file in the language your printer uses.

if you have a postscript printer, you can print to file, and then rename the file to a .ps extension. this file is now modifyable in programs like adobe photoshop and illustrator (or anything else that can view/edit postscript and other vector formats).

free programs like ghostscript (http://www.ghostscript.com/) will also let you see the contents of these files, and using utilities like ps2pdf turn them into PDF files (yes that's right, you don't have to pay for PDF creation!).

i see now the ghostscript creators have a new product called ghostPCL for PCL files (the other format windows printers tend to use). i haven't played with this, but i might give it a bash today.
