Hey Brian!
I don't know If I commented on this at eat poo or not, but I will again here anyway.
I really like this piece a lot. The colors are rich and warm. And evoke a definite feeling. The girl and the face of the beast are excellent, as well as the mountains.
The things that bother me about the piece are few but important.
The perspective seems a little strange. The figures don't seem to be part of the environment. Unresolved limbs! AAHHH.
That's all. Great job.
Oh yeah. On a side note: I see a lack of consistency in your work. Some times you whip out a beautiful piece like this one and then I have seen some other pieces that are, well, sub Prince par. I really have no idea what would cause this, but I may have a suggestion. I have this problem in my own work, and the way I overcome it is this...spend less time on things. And do more. I had a teacher tell me once to do as many drawings and paintings as I could so that I could get all the bad ones out of the way as quickly as possible.
I try to live by those words.
Just my $.02.
Keep up the great work. I hope to do landscapes as well as you!

Thanks mate.
I think a lot of my inconsistency comes from only having a tablet for a little over a year now . . . everything I've done has been kind of experimentative and I've not had a chance to fall into a comfortable workflow. And sometimes I just go horribly, horribly astray, like that Chun-Li I did for the first eatpoo contest . . . I don't know what I was thinking . . . ugh.
Part of it also stems from my lack of reliance on style . . . I've never in my artistic career settled into a discernable style for any length of time . . . I'm always trying new techniques, new approaches . . . I don't want to have a style, so inevitably, I'm bound to hit sour notes once in a while.
I'm still learning . . . flailing about . . .

AHH yes the STYLE conundrum.
I too have struggled with that.
At work I have to adhere to a particular genre and style. Luckily I am pretty high up on the totem pole these days and can assert my sensibilities a bit. But back when I was doing licensed work and freelance for Disney and folks like that, I was just a hired wrist and a really good tracer! Talk about oppressive.
Well, I have always liked your work. And I always try to remember that style is cool and all, but knowledge and technical skills are invaluable. And you have both.

I really like this one Brian. cool scenery, hot chick, massive beast- sorta Frazetta-esque, but not really. Awsome colors. I think that's your style. great color work shaped into a great image.
I love the face on the rhino too...great job there. -course, I'm partial to rhinos I guess. thanks for sharing- don
