Just a test, trying to model the terrain.

It looks great but the robots are really the main point of focus, plus no concept art??

Weel that is just the beggening :), i don't spent time to draw on paper for this one ..i put my ideas in a text file and i work direct in 3d , I allready now what i have in mind..
Now i am working at the mecanical parts and the enviroment ofcorse.

i am thinking about a planet with a verry dense atmosphere so the energy is catched through this verry big gizmos..
Another thing is that the gravity is low and that provide a architecture on multiple levels .

Ripper^^
11-19-2003, 11:10 PM
excuse the low level of the AA but these are just tests for the architecture part

Some more for the architecture part..

This is a transformer and a energy receiver. The planet is full with this.. :)

I am looking for a better position of the lights so i can fallow the shadows and how are projectet on the ground.
i kinda like this winter look, and i think i'll try and a "night" version.. -- what do you think?

One of the better entries I've seen, keep it up.
Definetly keep the daylight version, the 'normal' eviroment contrasts very nicely with your alien concepts.
Cheers.

That's pretty cool. I like the 'very big gizmo' a lot.

some tests with lightnings. :)

Ripper^^

i'll post the skech too, soon.
in this scene i already have 2 mil. polys and takes 1.8 gB of ram to render. ..:surprised
The scene is more complex i'll post the entire perspective and stuffs shortlly :p

So..any sugestions next? :scream:

TheFirstAngel

Ouch that hurts. Havin problems already with my round 1 mio. polyscene and have 2 gigs of ram, so maybe it's my windows 2k that is causin' me problems?
well the shader and lighningtest is cool in the upper part, i like that Energyball a lot. the lower part looses a bit could, ("legs") could use a more specular and a bit reflective (metal?)shader.
Just a sugestion.
Keep it up, you're doin' an amazing job here, cant wait to see your next update! Keep on rockin and make me go wow!

well im working on winXP/SP1 but win 2000 PRO is better (but thats just me...). In my scenes when a have more than 1 mil polys, i keep the objects organized in layers so they are never vizible at the same time..For objects that are verry complex in geometry i select "Display as box"..

Now...you are right about the "leg's" matterial, but this "energy reciver" -as i call it- :p , will not be in the center of attantion so it doesn't matter to much.. But in the end, ALL shaders will be metalic with energy on them.. But is never to late fore some changes.. :hmm:

I work on win2k pro SP1, but who knows the ways of evil bill anyways...?;)
I also put my composition it in groups and hide what I don't need, and work with lowpolyobjects for placement, but I will have a look what I can optimize on my workflow...
Good luck for sure and hold the pace into your stunning process, these are the things to make me go WOW!

I love the energy ball, or whatever it is... it looks extremely impressive, similar to the radar or Halpha pictures of the sun... great lighting effects. I look foreward to see how this fits into the environment you have.

I like your concept, and especially the energy receivers. :buttrock: They look a bit like dolphin-hummingbirds feeding at an energy source to me. :) Very cool!
