Hi there,

This is going to be my first CG challenge of many to come(Hopefully). I'm a student as well, so this challenge won't be for me to win, but to learn as much as I can. So any criticism is welcome

No longer a goddess, but the description still applies

Introduction of my goddess:

This utterly destroyed future is one not kind to the Goddess of the Forests, her lands have been burnt and ravaged countless times for the sake of the mortals "pointless" wars. With the destruction of her lands, she herself has become partially destroyed, the wood of her body has become burnt and charred, and the fire has changed her personality. Shifting from her once loving and gentle persona, she is now of vengeance and is intends to strike out against those who wish to harm her loved forests.

But there is hope for the forest god yet, with the burning of her nature has come the rebirth of life.

Update 6: Update 13/04/2011:

Been working on the model. Has come a long way. Nearly finished.

Update 5: 6/04/04:

Working on the base mesh, nearly done. Just have to add more branches/eyes and trying to change it so that it is less symmetrical. Next up is time to sculpt.

Update 4. 1/04/011:

Developed the idea more. Decided to displace the hips/legs more and add more detail. Concept is a bit rough(well very) but its enough for me to model from and that's what i'm aiming for.

Update 1/4/10:

The idea has become more tree-like and since I haven't posted for a while, I've got 2 updates for today. Finished concept will be up today with orthographics.

Part 1:

Decided to go away from the female idea, and make it no gender. The idea has become more tree-like and since I haven't posted for a while, I've got 2 updates for today.

Part 2:

Become way more tree-like. Am actually happy with the idea now and looking forward to modelling it now. Drawing a lot of inspiration from treebeard and ents I guess, but trying to still keep it separate from them.

I'm thinking it's looking a bit cute, might have to age it a bit.

Will update soon with concepts and reference art that i am going to be drawing from to make this character

23/3/10

Concept Half Done, modelling soon. More creativity will come from the modelling/texturing stage as I find they're an easier outlet then my drawing skills.

Reference to use(Note I didn't make any of this art myself, just drawing on these images for inspiration):

Nice work, i believe you must push over the concept to see some color, in that way may you can study some details (even in roughts sketchs). Try to avoid those triangles in the mesh, normal somtimes interact in a strange way giving undesired results.

Peace.

Thanks for the criticism :P

I'll try and push my concepts a bit more with colour, but I think I have a clear idea in my head, although getting it down is different I guess. I'll probably do a few quick 3d paints to check things out and post them up to see what different people like

The triangles shouldn't be too much of a worry if I divert them, I think I'll optimise before going to zbrush or 3dcoat though, since it might change the sculpt.
