View Full Version : Dominance War V - 3D - Tahry - God of Parity
03-20-2011, 06:04 AM
If there are any broken images in this entry it's because the picture uploader I was using changed domains and deleted all of their images. Unfortunately I lost a couple.
Original Post: I've seen a few Gods of Balance around the place so if you are doing that or something similar I wish you a fair fight! I also extend good luck to everyone competing!
I also posted this thread a few days ago as I just made my account to join Dom War. Unfortunately it still hasn't been posted even though it's been more than 48 hours since I sent it for approval. So this will be the right thread from now on.
The name may change from Parity, but I don't want to go down the 'balance' route to remain separated.
The God of Parity- the most feared deity among living creatures and even gods themselves. Her power can grow and fall to the situation needed, probably the most powerful god in existence but her true power has never been witnessed. She represents balance and keeping harmony between good and evil.
- Elaborate armour from FFXII (Judges) and Guild Wars (plate)
- Traditional Weighing Scale
- Metal with Material
I sketched this quickly the other day but hated the design as soon as I finished it, haha. At least it's somewhere to start.

I'm really loving some of the concepts that are coming out of here. Still don't know what kind of look I'm going for. Still trying for the Metal vs. Material. Going to definitely have some large weighing scales behind her.
I like the shapes on her legs. Need to replicate that on the arms somehow. Shapes shapes shapes! And some kind of helmet. I think she still looks to human, so I'm going to work on proportions.

Excellent concepts! Those are quite some elaborate pieces you have there and both of them are looking great!
The white cloth-like lines on the first concept are very nice, except for the bottom right line stretching in front of her corset. It would look better if it kept on going towards the back so it would look like part of complex skirt waving around her.
Is the second concept based on a ballerina? If so it could probably look nicer if her body was bended forward a little to create a C shape. Could complement the arms with greatsword nicely.
Great work, keep on going and good luck!
That sword design there is just yummy... set it ablaze with a white pure flame and she will be rocking it. Personally I think that a bare head (more like your first concept) with some kind of elaborate white gold tiara or something could be cool for your style.
Keep at it, this will no doubt be an interesting thread to follow :)

I was ill so I had to stay home from uni due to being sick today, unfortunately. I looked around and did some inspiration searching on google and whatnot but when I got to painting something none of my creativity was working. This is why I hate being ill! Haha
All I could come up with was some less than mediocre possible silhouette. Hopefully it will be something to work from tomorrow. Need to get a move on. Need to get final concept and orthographics done asap.

Quick sketch of the possible concept for the scales in which the girl accompanies. The scales are the true god of balance/parity which can no longer fight fot itself. Backstory will be posted soon.

I really like the concept of the scales and the idea that the scales are the true god.
Should post pics of how the girl and the scales are placed together 8D

Final Concept, doing quick orthographics next, so if anyone has any suggestions about what can be improved please say because it may be subject to change during modelling.

You figured out the chest plate! Okay, now to do the 3D model :)
I actually really want to see the 3D model of the scales.

Oh this looks very interesting, I don't know why but I just love big stuff floating behind characters ^^
And it comes in handy for the balance idea. Now I wanna see 3D too!

i like the colour scheme in the orthographic, i think it would look great with the right shaders.

Base mesh completed. I'm quite happy with it. Here's also a picture of just the hands- they seem like they'd be able to deform well. 2504 tris.

So annoyingly enough I was using the free picture uploader p1cture.me and they recently decided to change domains, in doing so EVERYTHING I have uploaded from them has been now replaced with an error message. I'll do my best to get those images back as I was using this thread as my backup :(
I wasn't able to find the second and third images, but they were continued concepts and possible silhouettes, it also had the design for the sword I ended up using.
The forth image was an image of the scales which didn't end up changing and stayed true to the end product.
The first images at the top of the second page are also missing, I'll have to have a look around on my flash drives hopefully.
Those were the only images I wasn't able to find, I've replaced the ones that needed to be. Very sad ): I'll know better next time, and I hope I'm still eligible.
