in the graph editor : curves-post infinity and then select the one you wanna do. most of the times it's just simple cycle. also make sure you switch on view-infinity in the GraphEditor

a much better way would be to use nonlinear anim. create a clip out of your anim (look inīto the help how to do, basicly select your object - animate-create clip). then in the trax editor you can set the cycling of the clip. (the clip has an attribute called cycling (what else :) ).

this method allows you to tell maya how often to cycle. you can even stretch the clip etc. (just wonderfull)

basicly spoken it is nothing else then copy-paste animations.

there are clips and poses. poses are static. means they're symbols for a static pose of your animation. clips are over time animations stored in this clip. so what you can do !?

first and simple you can cycle or stretch your animations. further you can blend different anims. lets say you've stored a characters walk and a run. then you can save them both to clips (you can export and import clips btw). so you then have the ability to put first the walk and after that the run clip into the trax editor and blend then. but this usually involves some corrections etc in maya ) it all begins with the creation of a CHARACTER.

what is a CHARACTER ?

nothing ! its just a node that stores all the keyable attributes of an animation object. so lets say you have a simple sphere animated to jump on the ground, not mooving forward or backward) then you simply create a character first. after that you can assign all the attributes you are animating on this sphere to the character node. it's just a collector in a way. now you can store the jumping animation. then you could go animate the ball to go for and back e.g. store in a new clip. you then have to clips in the visor or trax editor or both (depends on settings) you can now layer these, moove them in time, blend and so on. it's not so complicated if you once understand the meaning of a character and the Trax Editor.

hope this helps a bit
