Hi Folks.

I'm the founder of a project called ‘Children of Sol’. It is a deep and immersive universe set in the distant future featuring complex characters, a compelling narrative and intensely brilliant visual fidelity. The goal of Children of Sol is to provide a story that not only invites viewers to read or watch, but to interact with, decide, and feature within, in a way unique to any other science fiction franchise past and current.

You can see some existing artwork for the project here:

You can learn more about the universe here:

As you can see, I'm looking for character artists and digital painters to breath life into what I think is the most important part of any peace of science fiction – humans.
At the moment, there’s myself, two writers and a number of developers currently working to bring this project to life in their free time.

Although we don’t ask for any specific contributions, illustrations that you could provide whenever you where free, if you so chose to be involved
If you’ve like to know more...

This project would be perfect for anyone who:
Is looking to build up there portfolio
Sharpen up there skills (if their a novice)
Looking to get work published in a book (one of the products we're working on)
Looking to get live examples of there work in games (again, another one of our products)

As a creative working on this project, you get to contribute to, own and direct aspects of the universes fiction. For example:
As a writer, your free to decide which aspects of your story for instance, you'd like to have illustrated, which characters as an artist, you can have expanded by writers upon and so on.

Our Aims:
1) War in Hypercolour - (preliminary launch date 2013) A modern-day Great Space Battles-style book featuring several truckloads of epic and presented with cutting-edge visuals. This publication will be the grand introduction to the CoS Universe as we look forward to it branching out in to more interactive formats...

2) Sojourner - (preliminary launch date 2012) A browser game where players are the soldiers of fortune riding on the conflict between the two primary factions in CoS. The game will be set to take place 5-8 years before the events of the K-Dos war. As a player, you will start out with no obligations towards the primary factions. However, as events progress and you accumulate wealth and status, you'll be asked to pick a side.

For additional information about the team, check out this link (http://mformethod.com/comm/index.php?/topic/195-the-creative-assembly/)

I'm open to crits/flames/derp questions etc etc. If your an individual of differing talents but are really interested in the project, speak up and we'll see how we can get you involved.

(Other people we could use: Ruby on Rails developers, 3d Modellers, writers, spg nazi's etc etc)

Oh and Fans, (http://mformethod.com/comm) we'd like some fans also.

If your interested, give me a shout in this thread, PM me, or email me at admin [at] mformethod.com

Thanks for your time.

Hi and welcome ValentineO,
Sorry no replies have come for your post.....I'll wear the dunce cap and keep one foot in my mouth. :D

..have to start with a compliment and say you layed out some nice details and links to more info are good. ...that leads straight to my only serious crit...Why the heck didn't you use more of your nicer looking artwork???

The first pic you have in here looks like the crab nebulae with a semi transparent ship? "something" layered overtop...it comes off amaturish. Which is so NOT the reality in your case.

I tracked your images down on a couple other sites and was blown away by some of the ship designs and render comps which look stunning!

I don't understand why you wouldn't always use those to promo your project...you got lots of feedback on DA for ex to know which ones are standout.

This one for ex. is too sweet to be overlooked for the crab shot>

AND THIS ONE???>

[CRIT MODE OFF/]

Overall, very impressive, massive amount of work already donee...Sweet images ...cool story tidbits the likes of which I have never seen before... a busy and good looking forum etc..etc.

I'm a fan!

Also would really like to get an interview with you (for collabnews.com (http://www.collabnews.com) ) about the project and also dig into the story behind your decision to combined your project with another team's and create a gigantor working in multiple formats. That's a dream come true!

Hope you see this...I'll also email you, or get back to me if you can interview - softdistortions AT hotmail.com or collabunlimited AT hotmail.com :buttrock:

Heh, thanks for the extensive crit softdistortion.

I chose those images mainly due to the conceptual nature but upon hearing your feedback I may choose different images next time round.

Quite interested in doing an interview - please email the questions to admin@mformethod.com

Will email some Qs for an interview soon as possible.

Re the images, not to belabor the point, but I'd say always use your best material for initial impressions. You don't often get a second chance with so much saturation of info these days.
