The upper body, especially the head, in the first concept look really impressive. Keep up the good work!

Went a bit further. I have not yet decided on the legs and i'm sure
that the proportions will change.

Looks good. Maybe you could put some of those curves in your head design for making stuff for legs or since it is a god of worship and looks kind of tribal, give him some of the Native American's totems style?
