View Full Version : Copy&Mirror animation from left leg to the right leg?

Hi and thanks for reading my post!

Would anyone happen to know if it is possible in MB to take animation from, say, left leg and copy it (with appropriate mirroring of course) to the right leg? In Max, this was a common practice with simple copy&paste tracks command. In MB I have not found a good way to do this at all (unless we want to copy&paste each pose using Pose Controls, which is not a very nice solution IMHO).

Thanks in advance for any kind help!

Best regards,

PH

As far as I know it is possible. Just check "body part"instead of "whole body" in the key section and only poses of that body part will be stored.

Thanks for replying, but could you be more specific, please? I am not sure I understand.

Thanks!

My mistake, I thought you are talking about mirroring poses, not animation, as far as I know you can mirror poses by body part i.e. Left leg -> Right Leg with the proper offset if you are trying to create let's say a walk cycle. You can also store poses... of hands and fingers for example and "call" them later down the line.

You could create a new take and use the mirror feature on the control rig. It says "mirror" and when you plot the rig to the skeleton it mirrors the whole thing. Then just copy the mirrored keys and paste it on the legs on the previous take. :)

Thanks for your reply, Erik, but I have not been able to plot rig to skeleton with mirroring on. Did you mean the Character/Character Settings/Mirror Animation? Isn't this used only when the character receives animation from another character?
