Ok guys lets throw ideas to the wall to see what sticks.

I have a very clear idea of what I want to do with the challenge,
but I would like to hear what you guys have to say first.
And also I would like to avoid the problem we have with the last challenge.
Later,

I have a mental picture of my 3 year old daughter and her 3 year old cousin battling it out using huge mecha robots :)

First some rules for this universe:

Backstory:

Fifty years after a nuclear holocaust, conflict in the form of open war is strictly forbidden by the surviving nations who have eventually merged into two socio-political opposing super-nations: the American-influenced Western Market, and the Russian Confederation. In order to resolve conflicts over land and resources, the Market and Confederation agree to hold gladiator (http:///wiki/Gladiator)-like matches on a one-on-one basis to decide any one issue. To this end, they develop human-controlled giant robots (http:///wiki/Mecha), piloted by "robot jox". As the film opens, the Confederation has demanded a claim on the territory of Alaska (http:///wiki/Alaska), and unwilling to allow the valuable resources of the area fall into their hands, the Market must defend its own claim.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robojox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robojox)

Color palette:Good Guys (White, RED)

Bad guys (Black, Yellow)

We are going to have 3 categories:

LIGHTWEIGHT
Less than 9 feet:
Drone (Remote operated)

Landmate Suit (Piloted)
Over 9 feet to 90 feet
HEAVY WEIGHT
Heavy Duty Mech (Piloted)
All combat will be arena based.

RobertoOrtiz

Well I am in talks with people from the HCR modeling forum to come and model some assets.
And As soon As I get a break I will model a mech.

I was really hoping to get in on the next fx challenge. But where's the time for the fx if I'm having to model, rig and animate one if not two robots?

RobertoOrtiz

Dont worry about that...
There are three ways to participate:

Weapons testing:

Have a robot, fire a weapon at another robot

Arena Intro

Do the grand entrance sequence for the robot.

Robot Combat

Have two or more robots going at it.

I will be posting assets for this challenge (models) as soon as I get a break.

I loved the Arena Intro ideia, maybe you could add a teaser category (maybe that falls on the arena intro i don't know) like a commercial for the show you know?

What about modelling our own mechs? do we have to follow the concepts strictly or we have total freedom?

When does the next fxwars start? cause I'm on vacation and might have some time to play around with some ideas.

Give me at least two weeks for the development of assets.
I will sketch a base model MECH tonight, along with some weapons.

In this case I am in! I don't have time to model and rig something right now.
Cool, looking forward to it.

i guess im going to model my own robots i just wont make them ultra-realistic im going more for a cartoony style and because of that i have a question...can i make a ultra buff robot fighting with a small drone like one? or do i need to make them be the same "weight class"?

Roberto has always been super flexible regarding challenges. I'm absolutely sure there's no problem with different size robots fighting each other. Sounds like it might make an interesting story! Me? I've got an idea up my sleeve that I haven't seen anybody do for an FX wars, but kinda surprised nobody has.

Ok, i decided to make this one on my own since i want to see what i can do by myself before joining a groups, now i just want to know the rules for the challenge...does it need to be on a arena? can it be on space? does it need to have live action? do i need to show a crowd? when are we supposed to finish this?
