Ok here's a thought. I'm thinking cavernous, with treelike poles with veins, very organic. maybe pods in the poles that emit light, the ground (not pictured) have holes in them that may suggest some type of life, cacoons have also been a thought. Distant mountains unlike we've seen. Maybe spikelike. In the cavern I will make fungus like mushrooms or discs? Not a completely dry place will have some type of vegitation. The walls of the cavern and the poles will look like the inside of a body.. Folks bare with me I'm just putting thoughts together tell me what you think. I will post drawing soon..

That is certainly true...
I think its time for someone to really bend their mind in a new direction. I hope you come up with something completely wacky for your sake. Have fun!

hehe - thats the problem with getting 1000 people in a room who have all seen about every science fiction movie there is. I think the judges did a great job of trying to describe this contest. Your scetches are original and really nice. Keep going :)

just another test on materials and how they would look please give me some critiques please or if anyone knows of a good resource for procedural textures that would be great thanks!!!
PS what do you guys think of procedural textures? opinions??

Texturing is fine, but would be nice if it also displaced the geometry aswell. Outlines are always a dead giveaway.

I'm impressed with the concept sketch. I really like the idea of thos tree things having their 'roots' in the air aswell.

Nice, Im just wondering what sort of atmosphere you thingking about having....if any??? I like the concept of the beam of light and its possibilities :thumbsup:

well the atmosphere was kind of a toss up. I'm having problems as far as color schemes, so I'm throwing ideas around as far as ground color and texture, and color for the sky and such, so as soon as I figure it out I'll let you all know

well I think my viney treelike peice is textured. Of course this isn't final but tell me your thoughts.

Looks like you're off to a good start. I was intregued by the pods within the trees from your sketch. What kinds of colors are you thinking? Do you have any more sketches to share - maybe some color studies?

Just testing the image. I'm not very sure about the texture on the ground this isn't following the oringinal sketch, this is just a test. The beam of light will obviously be different. It's not fully modeled, and the shader will give it an energy effect.
