this is the base of the image over this im going to start creating the alien stuff,

this is my idea about the alien location,
they already build this kinda city , inside the planet theyre going to study or attack, seems like here they can be protected and live for a long time.

theres a lot more things that im going to add , but this is the beginning

Woow!! Lots of quality in all the entries!!
Jorge, yours looks awesome. It perfectly fits the description of the setting. I'm sure it'll look great on 3D if you decide to stick to this idea. Are those tubes bridges? Or some kind of energy/material transport?
Keep up the good work!!
:)

-juanitopablito- thanx for your comments, yes those tubes are some kind of bridges, i will add much more of thjose in different shapes around all area, and the next image i upload im going to refine the textures, i have some good ideas about materials

excelent sketches, the only thing you should beware of is the using of the valley as i'm browsing this forum i've seen many ideas wich is using valleys...
but you still can make unique valley as long as the work & Idea are yours, ;)

good luck

sorry for the delay of updates, but my pc breakdown and i had to re/sketch almost everything, any way here it is, any suggest is welcome, the story for this is almost the same than before, aliens need a fortress or a place where they can be protected and they can attack if needed, this time they hide at the bottom of this ambar lake, what it contains is no water, this liquid can be mixed with other components as oxigen, and it turn solid as rock , so every thing is maded from it.
the sky provides a lot of different gas types to create a world of materials inside this alien scene.

Pretty cool, but make sure the textures on the towers are not too 'busy' for the final.. been having to tweak that myself.

u mean for the final render?
busy means that they are very complex?

Hey, yeah, I mean for the final render. When rendering at small res's, it distorts the textures compared to what they will look like in the final render, which is really what counts. I'm just saying keep that in mind ;)

Very "hell-ish" :) Love bug- like creatures. One thing I've noticed- there is no air perspective (or whatever gas feels Your atmosphere here)- all details have similiar intensity. I think it flattens image a bit. If I was You I'd change a bit sky so it would not look so... repeatable in perspective. Anyway-

rattlesnake
12-16-2003, 07:28 AM
thanx, youre right about the sky so im going to do something about it, but about -"all details have similiar intensity"- youre talkin about the towers textures?, thanx about your comentaries, maybe its going to help when adding some depth of field to image so it doesnt look so flat :)

RKurczewski
12-16-2003, 07:37 AM
I mean... intensity of colours of far objects seem to be as clear as close ones, also edges of this objects are very crisp, not blurred by distance... Do not take me wrong- I am not saying Your image is "flat"- I just feel it can be better. I hope it is of any use...

I sat here for 10 minutes just staring at these new critters... amazing! top notch modeling and texturing, with excellent detail. Having some of these walking around on the water (I assume that's what they're for, correct me if i'm wrong) will add so much to the image, especially the final high-res render! Keep up the good work.

thanx, yes this ones are created to explore the surface of the water, but im not sure about the scale theyll have, theyre not going to be so big cos i dont want them to catch all the focus, but as u said - theyre going to look much better at the highres render, keep tuned for the update.

JIII
12-26-2003, 05:33 AM
hmm I really do love it man but I just don't like your perspective I get the feeling that these buildings are supposed to be big but the sense of scale is kidna not there.

so it looks like toys almost.

I would try and get alot more perspective and whatnot in there.

What i am trying to say here is that its great technically but it doesn't take my breath away.

And it could with different camera angles.

dreamer3dchic
12-26-2003, 04:50 PM
Well, this one does take my breath away. I like the fact that your abandoned structures don't appear particularly tall. There are several ways to express a vast huge space, and I think you've done it effectively with the expansive water and neverending horizon. It really gives the effect of an abandoned alien city nearly washed away with time. The lights coming through the water are very effective as well, making me think that there is a whole underwater "ghosttown", abandoned and in decay hidden from our camera view. Maybe there is still life down there, lurking, hiding, waiting for peaceful contact.

Like I said before I love your work. I love your color palette, and your concept. Your latest model is amazing. If you decide to play with scale and camera angels, I'd love to see it. My only regret is that I want to see more of this world, I want to walk through it, look under the water, etc. Very good job. . . there's not very many environments that I actually want to step into yet (including mine), so keep up the great work.

rattlesnake
12-26-2003, 10:52 PM
to JIII:
thanx man, after reading your reply i went to play around with camera and as u said i get that feeling on the buildings, they look bigger but i lose some other nice details like mountains and bugs from the back, so i think is a little bit flat the rest of the image, i think i can aproach the result that you want for the animation, but for this still frame ill keep it as it is, thanx a lot really nice observation:beer:

wow... I especially love how those little things attach to the water with what looks like a little foam and the ripples.... GREAT attention to detail. One thing to maybe fool around with would be to make them look like they're moving, as right now they look stationary (maybe then motion-blur the reflection in the water a bit, but not the actual model, just a thought). Definitely a fan of your work

I like "A." B is distracting and I find myself trying to squint to bring that shp into focus. "A" is clean and your eye goes right by the shape and into the composition. Nice job.
Matt

muyyatin
12-30-2003, 09:04 PM
I gotta go with "A" myself, just because the blurriness (especially in full res) would just distract from the non-blurry scene. Maybe a little less DOF and it would look better. A also seems to fit in a bit better with the overall theme of the image. Other than that, it's a close call, both options in my opinion look GREAT.

I might have to get a poster of this image, awesome work ;)

Muyyatin

rattlesnake
12-30-2003, 10:25 PM
hey thanx to all, i agree with u too, i created "b" cos some people wanted to see more detailed the "walker" or closer at least, maybe the idea is fine but "b" seems not to be the right way to express that,

thanx every one who participate in this thread , hope i can help u as much u had help me by now!

Whoohaa.. )) You surprise me again and again ;) My choice would be "B" if there weren't that DOFed Walker. I'd put farest Walker in your composition much closer to camera so it is clearly observed and put as DOF object something else. But..like Muyyatin said - both of them are great ;-)

Well I would use pic A. B's Walker unit is a bit too close to really fit there. I think it is the height illusion the structures imply. The other walkers are way smaller but do not appear to be that much farther off in the distance (if that means anything). I would also scale the walker units up a bit, way too much detail in them to hide it in the middle or background.

Rattlesnake, I almost cry how beautiful it is.
All this subtle details, all this life, all this and much more is in your picture. Your picture is like a beautiful woman, who one cannot look at long enough and one turns the head away from her, because one cannot handle so much beauty at ones.
That's it.....just BEAUTIFUL.
BEST LUCK OFF ALL, to you and Angle

hey im re writing the styory since i wrote it mixed with other replies, so heres the clean version:

the story for this is almost the same than before, aliens need a fortress or a place where they can be protected and they can attack if needed, this time they hide at the bottom of this ambar lake, what it contains is no water, this liquid can be mixed with other components as oxigen, and it turn solid as rock , so every thing is maded from it.
the sky provides a lot of different gas types to create a world of materials inside this alien scene.
this structures are borning from the lake cos maybe is time for the new generations to come, theyre ready to defend it selfs or attack if necessary, everything indiceates that theyre a warriors race and theyre dangerous.

the end.

01-15-2004, 02:45 AM
yeah i know, im not the most creative brain here:blush:

So you made a lake of spacedesperados... hehe funny!
Tell yoou what I see: A beautifull world rich in every kind of shapes with an artificial lifeform that has been runnin trough a evolution like a consence of parts that brings up feeling machines. the walkers are like children, playing on the lake, and exploring this, and the towers are the ancient brains of eternal wisdom like the fathers of this universe. THe sunset calls them home, to get nurrished by the lakes energy,.... ah this tells tousands of stories, and of course, if they are warriors, they are the spacemariachis ready to take over the universe!!!
No big story required, my Friend, it's just a masterpiece that makes the mind fly and loose yourself into this dream!

this is what I absoluitely 100% agree. This is a real fellowship with all CG heroes! I am sure there is a way to let that stay alive and maybe we make a tread for just an interactive project for artists to download and send milestones to keep the contact active?
THis is a real community and I really hope we all can stay together!!!!

Just makes me sad that something seems weird with the FTP, some sort of strange mistake and noone answers emails ot the final submission thread

I have sent it into finalsubmissionfolder too, as someone written this, and it's there, and I also written this to robert.

anyone who is familliar to this screen let me know... Warning:opendir......failed to open dir:permission deied in

----you have not submited....

Yes, I won't even check again. it seems it is on the server.
And I pray it will stay there.
And they can manage the filesystem....

 strange is it...

How are things, Supersnake, already look forward to your new machine:)
