No animation challenge!!!

Had to get that out of the system.

Ok then.. here's what Im kinda aiming for, may change tho.

Astronaut's POV (face reflection will be seen on helmet glass along with holographic display readings)

Looking out into a miniature Dyson Sphere (http://www.nada.kth.se/~asa/dysonFAQ.html). But instead of regular metal the sphere is built of some weird fleshy cybernetic metallic substance pulsing with energy, buildings seem to have grown out of the ground. Perhaps this race of people mastered nanotechnology and thats what has created this marvel.

Along with the low gravity the structures are made up of incredibly strange and mind blowing shapes.

Here's what I'm aiming for.

The finished image will be taller than it is wide. Its gonna be kind of a fisheye view, the bottom of the image showing the characters footprints, the top is what is directly above his head.

The character is inside something similar to a Dyson Sphere, except a LOT smaller (aboutt the size of our moon) Everything is made of a strange cybernetic mix, energy is pulsing everywhere.

Off in the distance are large mushroom shaped structures/buildings which also act as energy collectors. As you look further out into the distance you see the mushrooms are setup similar to crop circles which have been found on earth.

Above is a miniature sun, lighting and feeding power to everything here.

Wow

This is indeed an orignial idea;) First one I see that uses camera as a major efect. Should be interesting.

How about materials and such? Ay ideas?

To me it looks almsot taunting (the smiley like faceo n the right:P)

Thanks :) I figure the best way to "inspire awe" as the contest says is to let ppl take a look around.. so moving the image up/down will let folks do that.

Never noticed the smiley face before lol

As for materials and stuff.. I have no clue. This challenge plays all to my weaknesses (environments, texturing, lighting) so this is gonna be rough.. I used to fall back on using Darksim for textures but that would feel like cheating for this. Gonna try tho.

Thanks again!

Hey, nice idea.

I like the character's footprints at the bottom. It proves that there is someone there.

I'm guessing that those red bits are the suit's readout screens or somthing of the character's?

;)

yeap, and the small shaded part in the middle is supposed to be a lil fog on the glass from breath. Not sure wether or not I'm allowed to show a characters reflection in the glass.. might have to make 2 final versions. 1 with and 1 without.

Hey Kricket, this looks interesting.
The fish-eye perspective should be really cool.
Good luck!

Just blocking out the shot, everything here is *temporary* :) Just wanted to see if the whole top-to-bottom thing worked.

Decided to add some artificial metal "clouds" rotating around the mini-sun.

And yes, the final thing wont have such an ugly lens flare hehe.
