View Full Version : Clouds in CD4
Andy1010 10-20-2003, 04:35 PM I'm kinda new to 3d and Cinema 4d. I'm trying to figure out how I can create a scene where the camera is flying through the clouds. Please be specific because, like I said I am new.

well this could be tricky but fun...not sure whether its possible with the ozone plugin.
but here are some links that might get you started.

fluffy clouds with pyro

maybe you could use an emitter to shoot stuff at your camera then animate the camera to give the effect of moving in a cloud? dunno...

there's a great example on jeremyW's site:

If u want to fly through clouds some geometry needs to be there, with a volumentric shader.
In order to achieve these I suggest u the pyrocluster module and the thinking particles module (for basic tasks the core particle engine is ok also).
Create the particles in the desired coordinate points, and apply a pyrocluster volume shader to these. They will be there 'really', hence u can fly around or through them.

Speaking of which , I recently switched to C4D from Max and miss my Pcloud. Does anyone know of a plug in for C4d tha does the same effect. It's a basic emmiter just plops all the particles in a circle formation instead shooting them out.
It was awsome at forming clouds :)

Check the last example on this page of Srek's site: http://www.bonkers.de/r8/tp/tp.html
I think you can also use TDEM (plugin), which you can download from here: http://www.rendern.net/users/remotion/

I really feel that technique is the most program agnostic one out there. It can be implemented in any program. Depending on your creative requirements, that technique may be the one for you.
As a side note... According to Rustboy creator Brain Taylor, that technique was pioneered in 1937 by Walt Disney for the movie Snow White.

if you replicated rustboy/disney technique with sla...i presume you would get the popping jeremyw talks about above.
