bassaminator 10-20-2003, 03:43 PM Its been a looooong time since I posted here, but I just finished this and thought people might enjoy it. Its only ~40 sec. long animation, posted two versions large divx and small xvid encoded.

thanks aQu, I'm glad you enjoyed it ! updated with a preview pic for peeps to see what they are getting into.
(I hope that fits the forum rules- they are stills from the actual animation)

Neat. I watched it like 8 times in a row. Good colors. Crit: I don't like how we CU for the door opening and then dissolve back out. It seems like that and the light flick could be done in the same way as the rest of it: superimposed in chess squares. Or just in little popups. Think of the overall presentation and concept of the piece. Which is stronger?

Thanks for the reply! I didn't think of popup style cuts, great idea. When I did those shots I had less than a week, and I totally agree they could be stronger if they incorporated the chessboard somehow. I couldn't quickly figure out a composition that would work AND read across a cut, so I abandoned the idea in favour of a simpler shot.
popups might've worked though. Good idea.
