Can anyone point me in the right direction on how you would get a polygonal flower to say in a light breeze? I have a Lilly type of flower that was modeled, not created from pfx and converted so I can't use the built in turbulence attribute. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Make the stem a soft body..constrain the flower to the tip of the stem and apply forces to the stem and have the base of the stem constrained to the ground.

Thanks for the reply ganzo. My flower is already one object. Somehow I need to be able to constrain only some of the base vertices of the stem and allow the rest of the flower sway. I'm also new to dynamic simulations and don't know how to create the wind so that it allows for variations in the wind speed. Much like the turbulence and frequency settings for grass wind for pfx.

use Ncloth... do a search here and google, there are plenty of resources to help you out..

its easy to constrain and setup wind ;)

You may find that creating a bend deformer along the vertical axis and setting a simple expression on it can go a long way...and no caching required. You will want to zero out the low or high bound, placing the center of the deformer at the base of the stem. Maybe set an expression on the rotation of the deformer as well for added motion variation.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm not real good with the dynamics sim or using expressions at the moment so I decided to IK splines. I rigged the flower with a joint chain and added the ik splines to the stem and each petals joint chain. I then made the curve of the ik spline a soft body with goals which adds a curve particle system. So now when I move or rotate the base of the flower, the flowers petals and stem react and slowly sway back and forth.

However, I now have a slight rendering issue and can't seem to figure out what is causing it. The issue I'm having is when the flower sways back and forth, there is some sort of weird shadowing/caustic looking effect over the petals texture. I'm thinking that what I'm seeing is some sort of shadowing from the particles but not sure. I have one directional light (sun) that casts raytrace shadows in my scene, but even turning it off the issue is still there. Has anyone experienced this before and know what could be causing it?
