I'm currently a student, and I'd like to participate in hobby game/movie projects (for free, of course) to have a little experience and maybe even be able to fill my portfolio. I was using the search function, but I was unable to find anything (not outdated) about such projects. Are there websites for these things?

I am well aware of the fact that there is a section on cgtalk, however, right now, there's not much going on there.

If you're interested in game projects, at the Epic Games forums ( forums.epicgames.com) there's a section for the Unreal Development Kit (for people using the freely available Unreal Engine 3) and there's plenty of people looking for help with their projects

Hi Hemmel,

Interested in seeing some of your current work.

Since I'm pretty much at the beginning of my education (just a few months in), I don't really have much to show yet. Only one piece of artwork at the moment, and I'm not particularly proud of it

Of course, if I'm going to work with other people on a project, they're going to want to see what I'm able to do, but this thread was more of a question for the (hopefully) near future.

And thanks for the link, this seems to be exactly what I'm looking for!

There's a collab forum on these boards exactly for such things.

Yes, as I said in my opening post - I did see it, but it doesn't seem to be that active, unfortunately there are only a few threads there right now
